Avocado Lime Tart

Avocado lime tart

Avocados are rich in healthy fats and other nutrients, plus they have a rich, creamy texture that adds a new dimension to many desserts and side dishes.

They are one of the best ways to create filling, satisfying meals and avoid hunger on the Candida diet. A delicious way to reap the benefits of this versatile fruit is by making it the star ingredient of a beautiful tart.

This simple Avocado Lime Tart is a cool, refreshing way to end a meal. It has just a little stevia for sweetness but has no added sugars. Just perfect for spring (or indeed any time of year!).

Making delicious desserts on the Candida diet is easy when you know how. I’ve had feedback from many readers who love this tart filling so much that they eat it by itself, out of a bowl.

What a unique recipe! Sadly, I’m not a huge fan of avocado though I WANT so badly to be! (I love all veggies, but can’t stomach avocado for some odd reason!) Can you taste the avocado in this dessert?

    1. Lisa Richards says:

Hi Debra yes you will be able to taste the avocado. Sorry!

      1. Peggy Davis says:

So, the mixture solidifies in the refrigerator? There is no cook in the oven time?

        1. Lisa Richards says:

          That’s right!

      2. Floor says:

I have the same issue with some foods I badly want to eat but my stomach just turns whenever I put them in my mouth. I figured out that with many foods it’s actually the texture instead of the flavour I can’t stand. I’m gonna try this recipe!

  2. Julie Snyder says:

Coconut milk – the kind in a carton refrigerated or the kind in a can? Thanks!

    1. Lisa Richards says:

The kind in a can 🙂

  3. Beth Cooper says:

Where do you find alcohol free vanilla? I have purchased your recipes and ebooks and I can’t find alcohol free vanilla that doesn’t have sugar. I found a recipe for home made using vegetable glycerin but I don’t know if I am allowed to have that. It also will take several months to make which doesn’t help me right now. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    1. Lisa Richards says:

There are lots available on Amazon 🙂

      1. Laurel says:

Huh, the only one I could find that didn’t have sugar in the ingredient list was $52.00. Probably not worth it.

  4. Beth Cooper says:

Thanks. I had looked before I didn’t find any. Anyone else be careful because Amazon doesn’t list all ingredients and most of them that have no alcohol have sugar added. Frontier Natural Products Organic Vanilla Flavoring Non-Alcoholic and Singing Dog Vanilla Pure Vanilla Flavor Alcohol Free don’t appear to have alcohol and sugar.

  5. Anita says:

Can coconut nectar be used instead of stevia in some receipes

    1. Lisa Richards says:

Coconut nectar is nutritious but quite high on the glycemic index, so I would avoid it if you’re following the candida diet.

  6. Eileen Owers says:

Made the avocado lime tart for my daughter who is interested in your recipes. The filling tasted a bit like soap and made us feel slightly nauseous. Do you measure the coconut oil as a solid and then melt it, or as 1/4 cup of melted coconut oil? I used an american measure but melted the coconut oil and then measured a 1/4 cup. I think fresh avocado and fresh coconut would be a tastier option. I seldom eat dessert and think it is superfluous to our diet.

  7. Kat says:

Just tried this! The crusts are still hanging out in the fridge, waiting to solidify, but eating the leftover tart right now from a bowl. That’s how good it is! Now, I also felt a bit nervous about the avocado flavor — so I added 3 limes instead of 1! Result: No avocado detected, but others might still taste it. I love it extra citrusy, but that’s just me. Also — I used my normal almond/coconut milk from the grocery, not the thicker, canned kind and it worked out just fine. Used 1/2 tbsp of xylitol instead of Stevia because I just cannot get used to the taste of Stevia… Shame. Absolutely loved this recipe, and it was easy to make. Didn’t have a large pie form, so I made 12 little ones in a muffin form instead. Not that I won’t eat three at a time anyway.

    1. Lea says:

I added a bit more stevia and lime and let it sit for a few hours before consuming. No avacado taste. My boyfriend loved it and he’s not easy to please in the vegetarian sense.

I just made the tart filling and skipped the pie crust, it’s that delicious. I scraped the food processor clean! I couldn’t find any alcohol free vanilla extract so I used a vanilla bean instead and it worked out great! I keep sneaking spoonfuls as it chills and sprinkling toasted coconut on it. I don’t normally enjoy avocado but this is a winner for sure!

  9. Jill says:

Do you think the remainder could be frozen?

    1. Lisa Richards says:

      Yes!

  10. Fotika says:

    Absolutely fantastic!
    Great avocado-lime-coconut cream, yummy!
The tart is the hammer 😀
I didn’t have any coconut flakes, but I added some toasted almond flakes..
Finally, we can eat some dessert 😉
    Thank You <3 <3

My meat eating family loved it. we tore it up, I wish the crust had a stronger flavor.

  12. Petra says:

Probably the best tart EVER. I added an extra lime (I love the fresh, citrusy taste) and added less coconut oil. It’s amazing! Is it bad that my mom and I finished it in 2 days and I’m making another one? Oops it’s too good to be left alone. I’m not on a candida diet but it’s basically the same so this worked perfectly

    1. Lars says:

Hello! I’m new to the candida diet and I’ve never tried stevia but I’ve heard is not very tasty. As I assume that the flavor may vary depending on the brand, could you please recommend a good brand with decent flavor?
Also, I find conflicted information online about honey and a few people (including the candida crusher guy (?)) say that Manuka honey is actually okay because of its antibacterial and anti fungal properties. Any takes on this?
      Thanks very much!
      Clarissa

  13. Kelly Martin says:

Sounds delicious but do you have sweeter recipes without stevia? Not everyone can taste sweetness in stevia, all I can taste is liquorice and friends of mine also can’t taste the sweetness in stevia. I’ve tried many types.

    1. Lisa Richards, CNC says:

Hi Kelly, have you tried monk fruit extract? You can use that in place of stevia.

  14. Ashley says:

What size avocados should be used? The small one, normal, or jumbo?

    1. Lisa Richards, CNC says:

      Medium 🙂

I made this and it was way too tart

  16. Anita says:

I like the crust, but the combination of avocado and lime juice makes it taste exactly like extra virgin olive oil – very strong and not a taste I’m crazy about. I ate it because it’s healthy, but I doused it in whipped cream. I won’t make it again. I’ll use the crust for something else. Even using a different fruit would be a big improvement.

I have only been eating vegetables and turkey (normally vegetarian but there hardly seems like I can eat anything now!). I made this tonight with limited ingredients because I have just been STARVING lol. A strong gust could blow me away I have lost so much weight, and didn’t weigh much to begin with (125). I didn’t use much coconut oil, and I didn’t have the canned milk so I used carton coconut milk. I understand it isn’t the exact recipe, but it worked for me! I only had one lime, and liked more tart so added half a lemon to it. I loved it. This is going to get me through this torture for sure lol. I didn’t make the crust yet, just the filling and put them in small containers as a sort of “pudding” I guess. Can’t wait to pick up the rest of the ingredients and try the whole thing.

I’ve just started my 3 month candida cleanse and made this tart! I used a real vanilla bean instead and made it a double batch to fit my pan. It’s super refreshing and moreish! It left me feeling very satisfied. Thankyou!!
