Luckily I don’t have any skin problems due to candida….mine is basically a gut overgrowth and was causing chronic fatigue, extreme sugar cravings and terrible brain fog. I guess your infestation is worse than mine.

What surprises me about candida is how resilient and adaptable this darn thing is (inspite of all the stuff I’ve been taking). It just doesn’t give up………it could probably colonize Mars if it was introduced there.

Good luck to all of us.

    Hi Wanttolive,

I am sorry to hear you are having so many problems. I am not sure if all your symptoms are related to candida, but since you have oral thrush, I guess you do have candida infestation.

    – By raw rice (brown or red rice), I mean that this is not ‘polished’ or refined in any way. You can surely cook it (I usually boil it and add some salt and cummin seeds for taste).

    – I have garlic, ginger, onions (all raw) + coconut oil and scraped coconut + olives + turmeric every day as natural anti-fungals. Raw garlic is pretty strong and if you already have heartburn issues, then I think 2-3 cloves every day maybe a lot….try having just 1-2 and see if it works. I usually have garlic at night time since it tends to produce some gas.

    – Also avoid all starchy vegetables & fruits (potatoes, tapioca, bananas, carrots etc).

I have been on the diet plan for 3 months, but I assume it will take about 8-12 months to get rid of this 🙁

Also, if your oral thrush is spreading to your lips and other parts of your mouth, it seems that your infestation might be increasing. I think you need to cut out the wheat (chapatis) and all refined carbs, starchy fruits/vegetables and sugar totally. Try having raw (brown) rice. And I think you need to start the strict diet asap + antifungals & probiotics. Good luck.

    Hi,

I have had candida overgrowth for around 2 years and been on the diet+ antifungals+probitoics for 3 months now. Also having milk thistle for liver support. Saw a naturopath on Dec 21 for the first time, and she increased my dosage of caprylic acid to 2 tablets x 2 times a day. With 2 days of the increased dose, I had severe body pain, pain in my arms, legs, back, neck, shoulders….morning, noon and night. I checked with the doc and she said this was die off and it would last 7-10 days. She was right. Its over now since around 2 Jan.

But I guess different people have different die off symptoms based on what toxins are being released/level of infestation etc.

Brain fog is a common symptom and if you are feeling ‘drugged’, its because you are…..candida produces loads of toxins and some affect the brain.

Though this is certainly not the only cause for dizziness….low bp/low sugar/vertigo are other common causes of dizziness among many many others.

To be fairly sure you have candida overgrowth, you need to checkup on other symptoms as well.

Your symptoms could be related to candida (partially or perhaps fully), but in any case DO NOT stop the anti-depressants without checking with your doc. I have been on several psych drugs for over 24 years for anxiety and related problems, and if there’s one thing I’ve learnt, its to never mess with psych medication on your own….always consult your doc and if you have to reduce it, ALWAYS TAPER IT DOWN SLOWLY over many weeks. Good luck.

Some of the symptoms you’ve listed could be caused by candida overgrowth. The fact that you’ve been taking antibiotics increases the likeliness of candida infestation.

Do you have sugar cravings, eat a lot of carbs/refined sugar? Do you have other symptoms like intestinal bloating/flatulence, oral thrush, brain fog, chronic fatigue? Did you test positive on the home ‘spit’ test? If the answer to these questions is yes, then its fairly likely you have candida overgrowth.

    Hi,

It sounds like brain fog, though mine did not cause ‘dizziness’ or any sensation of spinning. The words I would use to describe it would be ‘fogged out’, ‘spaced out’, ‘feeling unreal’ or feeling drunk. It causes one to lose some cognitive ability, think rationally, short term memory loss, solve simple maths etc. Some people describe it like being in a dream….like not actually there. Though I don’t think this may cause any sensation of loss of balance…..but I guess it may be different for different people.

Don’t have a clue of what aspartane is, but I guess anything that comes out of a mass production factory can’t be really healthy.

Better to have things that grow on trees than stuff thats made in a factory.

    Hi Freedaji,

Thanks, I haven’t tried ashwagandha yet. Is is specifically for libido or is it an antifungal as well?

I have now been on the Diet + antifungals + probiotics for 40 days and am feeling much better already. About 50% better since I started the regimen.

Also had my first appointment with a naturopath today and it went well (thank you to Raster for suggesting to look for a naturopath). Finally found a doctor who knows about this condition and how to treat it.

    Thank you.

    Hi All,

I just did some Ayurvedic research on turmeric. Turmeric is a very powerful spice and one needs to be careful how to use it. It has drying and heating qualities inside the body, so it is advisable to take it with some ‘cooling’ foods like coriander (1 part turmeric with 6 parts coriander or cummin).

Or can be taken with warm milk so it mixes with the lipids in the milk and does not cause its ‘drying’ effect inside the body. Some people also take it with ‘ghee’.

You can google ‘turmeric sutras’ and watch some videos on you-tube by Vaidya Mishra and learn some more on this herb.I would suggest to please avoid taking just turmeric on its own.

Please let me know if you find any more information on this.

    Thank you.

    Hi Andy,

Yes, the diet is very limited but it will get your infestation cured….it will take time though (between 6-18 months). You might want to try some Rutabaga instead of potatoes.

Rutabaga has starch, but it is also an anti-fungal. Try it in small amounts first because it can cause a bad die-off in large amounts. You can read more about it on this same website.

    Hang in there.

    Hi Andy,

I have been suffering from candida intestinal infestation for about 2 years now. Just been on the diet for a month and feeling about 50% better.

I think potatoes are not a good idea because they have lots of starch that will feed the candida. The only carb I am taking now is brown rice. I have lost about 1 kg since last month.

I really can’t think of any other thing you can eat to keep your weight up (maybe taking more meals in a day).

    All the best.

    Hi All,

Thank you for your replies. I haven’t tried any recipies with turmeric but just take it with warm milk every morning. I also sprinkle some turmeric powder on my salad sometimes.

Its natural and also has many other health benefits (the taste is not so good though, so I just have some lemon & ginger with it to ‘cover’ the taste).
