What a great website! Thank you!
I’ve been having candida and chronic fatigue-like symptoms (tired, sleepy, bad memory, depression, irritability…) I saw a doctor who made me do a lot of lab tests, everything was normal except for Cortisol which was at the limit. So I had to go see an endocrinologist who made me do more tests (including Cortisol but this time at 8am cause it’s at its highest level at this time) which gave normal results too. I wasn’t too happy cause I needed to find the problem I have! Then, I heard about Candida. I did the saliva test at home and it was positive! So I decided to go test for Candida at the lab but I’m in Brazil so it was hard for them to understand what I wanted but they still tested me by doing a saliva culture. I had a feeling that this was the wrong test cause the candida tests as listed in this website (http://www.thecandidadiet.com/testingforcandida.htm) don’t include saliva culture.
So, I’ve decided to follow the Candida diet without the Cleanse cause I had to study for a big exam. After several days I miraculously felt better! It was incredible!
After my exam, I started having sugar and gluten, and the symptoms came back! So, I’ve decided to do the Cleanse and follow strictly the diet.
I do want a “scientific” proof that I have Candida, I’m traveling a lot so it would be difficult to see a doctor and lab.
1. In the forum I found the self tests provided by http://www.candidatest.co.uk/; are these reliable? Anyone has used them?
2. The fact that I would be testing for Candida AFTER starting the diet shouldn’t affect the results right? Logically no given that it takes months to get rid of it.
Thank you very much!June 27, 2011 at 2:27 pm #63873

I myself used that that site for testing. The test comprises of a mouth swab and a stool sample then its sent to a lab in Germany. The results come back via email in about a week then a detailed paper copy is also sent out about a week or 2 after that. The test is fully broken down and is easy to understand and also comes with a basic advice sheet along with diet. They also recommend that you have a conciltation with there nutritionalist which will cost £40 gbp’s and she will give you a supplement plan and and a big list of supplements to take which work out about to £80 gbp’s a month!!
I was a scared newbie when I got tested so did pay for the conciltation which was ok but to be honest there’s so much more info from the people on the forum and it’s free and they’re not trying to get a sale from you. As for the supplements she advised me to buy, they wouldn’t of done much at all to be honest as there were nothing in the supplement plan that would actually Kill of yest ie garlic, oregano oil. For this reason I decided to do my own plan using better and a hell of a lot cheaper and wouldn’t have to keep going back for more consultations as the problem wouldn’t have been fixed costing me more money.
So my advice would be – yes do get the kit because it let’s you know how bad your yeast overgrowth is and the breakdown of the results are excellent, as for having a consultation and a plan made up etc, don’t waste your money. Plenty of info on this forum to sort yourself out and lots of friendly people and support.
Hope this helps

Thank you very much, this helps a lot!
We’re in a world where everyone tries to sell leading to a lack of objectivity. Even in forums we never know who’s behind hehe
I assume the results showed that you had Candida?June 28, 2011 at 1:47 am #63887

Yeah, the results showed I have a med/strong colonisation of candida albicans. It also identifys the strain of albicans ( I have 2 strains which is apparently rare-ish) and other info like inflammation levels of the stomach which mine were high and also shows if you have leaky gut too, which I didn’t.
So as mentioned earlier it’s a really good test. It’s a case of get a very accurate diagnosis then make your own plan to suit your needs.
