Does anyone have any experience with standard process candida products. My homeopathic doc put me on standard process zymex, lactic acid yeast wafers, cats claw and Spanish black radish. She said they worked great for another patient, and insists on me taking them. I am giving them a try but I’m so worried about some of the ingredients. I’m hoping that the amounts of questionable extra ingredients are so small that they don’t effect the benefits of the products in creating the acidic gut. Has anyone taken these??April 20, 2013 at 6:33 pm #103186

Go to the standard process website if you want to check out ingredients…
I wouldn’t call these candida products but general health products. Standard process is one of the oldest vitamin manufacturers in the world and have very high quality standards. Their vitamins are also quite expensive as well. Spanish black radish is good for hemmorhoids if you have them. Zymex (are you taking regular zymex or zymex II?) are digestive enzymes that help you break down the food you eat and help you get energy from this food. Enzymes also heal leaky gut and break down biofilms.
I have never taken cats claw or lactic acid yeast wafers.
From their website:
“-promote the body’s normal, protecive resistance function
-support a healthy immune system
-provide antioxidant protection”
Lactic acid yeast wafers:
“Lactic Acid Yeast provides natural lactic acid to help establish proper pH balance in the gut and supports a healthy intestinal environment.
-Promotes a healthy lower gastrointestinal pH
-Cleanses and promotes healthy function in the lower gastrointestinal tract”
It does contain these ingredients though “Corn, whey (milk), malt syrup, and yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae).”
I would be wary of the lactic acid yeast wafers but it sounds like she wants to use one yeast to kill another yeast maybe. Also altering your pH to the correct levels is something you want to do.
Since you aren’t consuming large quantities of this product potentially, I wouldn’t be too worried about it. However I would ask her why she gave you something with these ingredients and whether there are any alternatives. Standard process has so many products that I have a feeling that there is something similar without these ingredients.

Zymex has a proprietary blend 910 mg of defatted wheat(germ) lactose(milk)and enzymatic ally processed tillandsia usneoides and beet(root).
Lactic acid yeast has a proprietary bland 842 mg of corn, whey(milk) malt syrup, and yeast( saccharin yes cerevisiae) other ingredient are cellulose, honey, glycerin, calcium stearate, and Arabic gum
Cats claw forte has cats claw bark 421 mg and other ingredients : calcium acid phosphate, cellulose, hypromellose , magnesium stearate, maltodextrin, silica and sodium starch glycollate.
I don’t have Spanish black radish with me but I know the some other ingredients are honey and came camu berry
So..,,,,it sounds pretty bad, I bought them through my homeopathic doc, just purchasing her candida supplements, desperate for help. I honestly didn’t even look at the ingredients till I received then since she ordered them for me. She said that another client had great results in 2 months. I have taken them for like a week, with caprylic acid and garlic. I have felt some pains under my ribs by my back, upper back, and front under ribs, and some throat pain. Which these are all things I felt when I started the diet, just eating veggies and the cleanse. So I’m so confused about this being die off, or something else like feeding the candida, or who knows what. I have found this protocol though for some other docs/health centers.April 20, 2013 at 7:14 pm #103194

The stanard process products work great so its up to you on whether to be concerned or not. I have take zymex and spanish black radish with no problems whatsoever. The other 2 products I have not taken.
I don’t think these 4 products will cure a candida infestation but it likely will make you feel better.

Well I feel much more reassured to try them if you have taken them. I’m following the protocol, diet on the forum. So I will take these products too for at least 2 months and see how that goes. Let me know what you think of my plan. Right now I’m starting gse just because I am in the process of making water kefir waiting for it to ferment, so I figure since I really haven’t started probiotics due to shipping issues, now is the time for gse. Should I go back to caprylic acid for 2 more weeks after that while I start kefir? Then should I stop anti fungals altogether. Or do I continue coconut oil and garlic while I start hitting it hard with kefir and probiotics?
How soon do I start on my probiotic pills?
Also, does anyone know much about water kefir. I’m going to do the second fermentation today. That’s when you add stuff for flavor. So I was gonna add mint and lime. That should be fine right?!June 3, 2013 at 11:15 pm #105591

Thanks for asking that question. I too was recommended by my chiropractor to take the Lactic Acid Yeast product from Standard Process, but it seemed contraindicative to me. I guess I don’t understand how it works well enough, and the additional ingredients made me hesitant. Have you found any success with the product? I’m debating whether or not to take it. Any additional advice is appreciated. Also, does anyone have any experience with fighting candida overgrowth with homemade Kombucha? Thoughts?
