I bought my 1st ever rutabaga today and was wondering if anyone had a favorite way of preparing them-was thinking of roasting it but would love a few stage 1 friendly ideas!

MMmmm! Love it! I do think that I did get die-off from it, so be careful! 😉
I peel it, chop it and boil it. Tastes almost….like a potato.
Then you can use it in some stir-fry of your veggies. I’ve even used it in my scrambled eggs (not totally my favorite, but it was okay). Also made rutabaga chips!!! YUMO! Man, those are really good! But, it’s so much work, and I could eat the whole thing like in two seconds! 🙂 But…it’s really yummy and thanks to this diet, I probably would have never know! 🙂May 6, 2012 at 3:59 pm #81069
Appreciate your response!
How long do you generally boil it for? Until fork tender?
(I’ve got the molybdenum standing by just in case it’s a killer!)

Yeah, that’s right, just till fork tender. I also did turnips the same tonight, pretty good. Nice to change it up a bit. My skin just broke out in it’s usual places, itchy. Not bad, but I figured it was the rutabaga. If you get a pretty big one, it almost makes four meals when it’s all cubed.
Hope you like it! 🙂

‘Turnip’ is next on my list!!
The itchy rash (one spot in particular!) has been my ‘die-off-o-meter’ too!
What a adventure this is!!

Ha!! No way?! I have this one spot too!! I call it my inflammation indicator! That is too funny! Well, thankfully my indicator is reading low right now! 😉 Just finished my turnips tonight was pretty good! 🙂June 26, 2012 at 11:40 am #85500

I just had my first ever rutabega…very yummy. I boiled it with garlic, then mashed it with more garlic, Himalayan sea salt and coconut oil. Very, very simple and tasty side to fresh veggies. Had leftovers the next morning with my zucchini frittata. A wonderful breakfast too.June 27, 2012 at 9:20 am #85654

I love it roasted. I had loads of it 3 days in a row, my die off’o’metre is my hands & now there all blistered again. I usually eat it twice per week, spaced out evenly.
