I have commented on here about bloating in previous posts. I have taken the recommendations and am taking betaine hcl and other digestive enzymes. Raster (I think it was Raster) said that bloat isn’t a big deal and it is not a sign of a food allergy. I would just like to know what people think it could be. Here is the gist of it: I wake up each morning with a slightly bloated stomach, (not what it looked like pre-candida life). Throughout the day, after I eat, it gets bigger, so it is at it’s biggest at night. It is lower belly only. I did a water fast for a day as a test, and it didn’t change from morning to night (usually it is worse at night). From a vanity standpoint, I can live with it. But, to me it is a sign or symptom of something and I do not know what. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

One of the main causes of excess bloating is an abundance of fermentation in the intestines. An important part of preventing this from happening is to keep the food moving out of the intestines, so having several bowel movements a day would be something to strive for with this type of problem.
Are you take Swedish Digestive Bitters or an actual enzyme supplement?

You need to improve your digestion in order for it to reduce or go away. Improving your digestion takes a very long time from my experience.

Able: I do not take the Swedish bitters. Where do I get these and what kind should I look for? I want to make sure I get the right ones.

MadEmx, I have the exact same problem! But I feel mine goes a little beyond vanity, in that the bloating, gas, and distention are painful after dinner! It makes me want to not eat anything. I’m struggling too to figure out what could be causing it. I’m thinking i’m going to eliminate all flours from the diet and see if that helps. Before i started any flours, I would wake up with a fairly flat stomach, but was full and bloated after dinner. Now, I’m bloated and distended and uncomfortable all day. I’m just afraid i’m going to lose more weight if I eliminate flours.
Able, I have had my gallbladder removed, and from what I’ve read on posts, I should avoid bitters. I’ve been taking digestive enzymes before eating, and focusing on mainly anit-inflammatory foods. How do you suggest we keep our bowels moving so that we have 2-3 movements a day? I currently only have 1, sometimes 2. I take at least one scoop of Fiber Smart by Renew Life a day.
MY digestive enzymes include the following ingredients (in 2 tablets. I sometimes take 3):
Betaine HCL 330mg
Pepsin 1:15,000 130mg
Bromelain 10:1 260mg
Papain NF 260mg
Ox bile extract 260mg
Pancreatin USP 4X 500mg

Aggie, read my post titled Clarification required please. It’s also about bloating and DaughterNature posted her regime that’s helped and I have done a few things as well.. Today I had no bloat!
