I have recently started taking 2x 150mg of Molybdenum twice a day and 6 pills of Now foods Spirulina a day. My homeopath said Spirulina can actually be bad for you in some cases. Is this true? Although I suspect the biggest culprit might be the Molybdenum, as from reading around it seems some people just don’t agree with it. So im considering stopping them for the time being to monitor the difference.

I have also been told by my brother who is very well educated in supplementing for nutrition and general health that my brain fog must be a symptom of clinical depression rather than the other way round if anything. He also said in a confident fashion that everyone has leaky gut and candida from time to time but these malfunctions in the body should not present such chronic symptoms, he says they should of cleared up at least a bit by now, especially after having been on the diet for 2 & 1/2 months . (*main symptoms being Brain fog and irritability)

He also attributes the constant chronic stress my body is under and waking up every morning feeling physically awful as depression. I would link this to a severe leaky gut syndrome.
Because of my brothers persuasive argument and confident tone, he has planted a little seed of doubt in my mind. I feel frustrated that Im fighting the whole time trying to convince people of this gut problem when Im not 100% convinced myself that all of the symptoms im experiencing is down to a gut problem, even though I have been tested positive for candida, leaky gut and low pancreatic acid.

Im so convinced its the leaky gut and candida causing my constant fluctuations in mood and brain fog but need a reality check from you guys.

Has anyone else experienced problems with spirulina or molybdenum?

Would you agree with my brother or I and why?

    Seasons Greetings to all,
    JD

You say you’ve been diagnosed with a Candida overgrowth and leaky gut. If this is true your brother is entirely wrong about the cause of your brain fog.

Spirulina is a strong antifungal which can cause dreadful die-off toxins to accumulate in the body, and this along with the normal toxins from living Candida is the cause of your brain fogginess. Be sure that you have “Molybdenum Amino Acid Chelate” and not just plain molybdenum. You can take up to 750 to 1000 mcg a day to combat the toxins causing havoc in your body. Drink a lot of water and take saunas or soak in a hot tub of water at least once or twice a day to help remove the toxins.

I also feel that your brother is wrong about everyone having leaky gut syndrome from time to time. I have had a Candida infestation in the past, yet I have never suffered from leaky gut syndrome

Did your doctor explain in precisely which cases spirulina can be bad for a person? Unless he is speaking of the die-off toxins from the Candida, I’m afraid I do not know what he means.

I have stopped taking spirulina. Irratability has pretty much gone apart from the constant die off symptoms. My doctor did not explain precisely why, Im quite surprised he didn’t link the irratability to it though. I have stopped taking the molybdenum aswell as I thought It was contributing to the die off symptoms, yet its role is to relieve symptoms right? So perhaps ill start it again tomorrow and gradually increase to 900mg to help alleviate this horrible brain fog.

I started with 450mg a day of Molybdenum Amino Acid Chelate and gradually increased to 750mg for the past week and a half and haven’t noticed any improvements, but presumably who would when the spirulina was having such a detrimental effect.

I also am now taking 3 big spoons of linseed oil a day freshly produced from a farm near me, made only 2 weeks ago as said on the bottle!
That seems to slightly improve my cognitive ability when the die off isn’t so hard.

I ate 4 slices of gluten free genius bread yesterday which contains 0.7mg of sugar per slice (nothing) but psysillium husks and yeast extract and so woke up this morning feeling especially horrible, so gone a few steps back unfortunately.

What does it mean if I keep waking up with a horrible die off feeling, extreme dry throat and irratability in the morning which doesnt seem to improve till at least 2-3pm? The brain fog is still very chronic. Surely this must mean my liver is under a lot of stress?

If I havent noticed any noticeable improvement over the past 2 months..surely I must still be eating things which are not agreeing with me, which inevitably must be stopping progress?

Im pretty intune with my body and know when something doesn’t agree with me so I’m slightly perplexed where to go from here..

    Merry Christmas,
    JD

Hello, JD, a Merry Christmas to you as well.

I ate 4 slices of gluten free genius bread yesterday which contains 0.7mg of sugar per slice (nothing) but psysillium husks and yeast extract and so woke up this morning feeling especially horrible, so gone a few steps back unfortunately.

What are all the ingredients in the genius bread?

I’m sorry, and I’m not trying to be smart here, but it simply means that you have a Candida albicans infestation in your body. Such symptoms are common, and yes, the aldehyde toxins are dangerous for the liver and the entire infestation usually results in extreme stress on the body in general.

If I havent noticed any noticeable improvement over the past 2 months..surely I must still be eating things which are not agreeing with me, which inevitably must be stopping progress?

If no real improvements are seen after two months on a Candida treatment, there is always a reason.
If you’ll give a complete list of everything you’re eating along with the ingredients of the genius bread, I’ll have a look.

    Hi Able,

To save time, the bread is a definite no no. I seem to somehow irratate my gut lining everyday. The only foods I feel could be causing the lack of development could be:

    Smoked Bacon
    Smoked Salmon
    Goats milk yoghurt
Eggs (dont seem to disagree..although have experienced acid reflux about an hour after being ingested before.)

So, solution, I have stopped taking them and replaced the smoked bacon with unsmoked.

    Is this ok?

Unless you’re getting uncured bacon, I’d definitely avoid it – too many nitrites. Personally, I avoid pork because it doesn’t agree with me.
