    Hi,
This is my first post here. I live in the UK. have a feeling I have systemic candida but I can’t get the doctors here to give me any kind of test. They just say it doesn’t exist. I don’t know what to do it is really getting me down. It’s really affecting my daily life and my family there are so many symptoms.

Things I suffer from are thrush. I have this big time. I can’t even look at a bar of soap without it setting off thrush. I have lost track of how many of those pills/creams I have used and nothing gets rid of it.

My stomach is always painful and bloated and gurgling. I have to be very careful of what I eat. Things that always set me off are beer, marmite and soy sauce in particular. I have done a food diary and I don’t eat processed or anything.

I also have bad PMS (poss pmdd?). Very depressed and extremely irritable around this time

Very very tired all the time, to the point that my poor husband bless him has to get the kids up and ready in the morning

Sinuses are always blocked and frequent headaches

I am very anxious and recently the dentist told me I must be grinding my teeth all night in my sleep

All my toenails on the left foot are covered with fungus. They have been like this for 6 years. I have tried every cream/oil on the market and nothing works. now the nail on my big toe is completely destroyed.

And now for the past week I have acute diarrhea (which may or may not be related)

I was just wondering if this sounds like candida to you. I had A LOT of antibiotics in my life, especially during the birth of my second child because I was carrying Strep B…so basically they came at me with what looked like 1/5 litre of antibiotics. Antibiotics always set of the thrush with me. Since then I have also had a chest infection and was given another 2 sets of antibiotics and now today I go and see the doctor, he dismisses candida and tells me perhaps I just need more antibiotics.

I’m at my wits end. It’s really really getting me down. How do you go about treating it if you can’t even get diagnosed. What did you guys do? Does it sound similar to you?

    Many thanks xxx

It sounds like you have candidiasis. The thrush and toenail fungus shows that your cell-mediated immunity cannot fight off fungus, which can happen when you have intestinal yeast overgrowth (aka candidiasis). Your other symptoms are consistent with candidiasis as well. Note that while candidiasis causes symptoms that are systemic, the term ‘systemic candida’ is used to denote a condition where candida has spread throughout the body. This only happens to people with severely compromised immune systems, and if you had it you’d be in a hospital fighting for your life. So use the term ‘candidiasis’ instead.

There are holistic MDs, etc. that will treat people for this. You just have to know how to find them. The web site below can be used to find one:

    Funtional Medicine Practitioner search

Not sure what part of the country you’re in, but I know there are holistic MDs in the London area. Wherever you are, look for one with a listed specialty of something like family medicine or internal medicine.

    Cheers,
    CS

I’d call it candida related complex or call it yeast and then they will understand. The unfortunate thing is there isn’t a single medication out there to treat you…this is what western doctors do is they prescribe medication. The closest medication that brings a “cure” is strong antifungal medications.

This sounds like some of my symptoms. My doctor told me that I was probably really sensitive to wheat, which is why beer and bread always made my symptoms worse. The teeth grinding is apparently caused by your stomach being upset during the night!

As far as healing goes, I was recommended to just do a Candida cleanse and then eat a candida diet for a while and see where things go from there. You should try that before you get an antifungal. I think the antifungal might do what an antibacterial does, and accidentally kills things that it shouldn’t. Not a doctor, just a guess.

You also might want to look into general digestion related gut flora problems. Examples include h.pylori, strept, parasites, SIBO, etc. There are tests for these and are much more common problems. The symptoms are similar too.
