I began colostrum yesterday. I think I got a really good brand, Surthrival. Have those of you who’ve started taking it had die off? Or shall I say did you notice any reactions in your body? My psychological symptoms started up bad, then I had a ton of trouble going to sleep.
I can’t pinpoint if it’s from the colostrum or the GAPS diet, I’m on day 7 of intro.May 22, 2013 at 10:02 am #104923
I haven’t looked up that colostrum that you are taking yet, but I remember I was having def. reactions with lactoferrin and regular colostrum. I returned those products. I have taken off and on mt. capra colostrum (goat milk) that cheesy talked about the other day. Actually, yesterday, I was having leaky gut reactions, and I think it def. helped me! It calms my gut down more. Sometimes, with l-glutamine, on a bad day, I have to take l-glutamine throughout the day, as much as 30g or even more; probably due to the fact of no colon.
I do not like taking that much l-glutamine, so the I am beginning to believe in the colostrum. I would suggest trying the mt. capra colostrum derived from goat milk, so it can be easier on your system. A lot of people have trouble with cow’s milk.
Final note: They say colostrum is known for giving you energy and keeping you awake, so for that note, they recommended to not take it at night for those people.
Here is the product:

What I am taking at the moment is actually an Immunoglobulin extract from colostrum, so it doesn’t have the full spectrum of benefits of normal colostrum. However, I believe I have been experiencing die-off from that alone as I have heard it can cause viral die-off. I’m not certain of that though as I’ve been feeling pretty bad for a long time.
I have read on other forums that colostrum can cause die-off.May 22, 2013 at 12:24 pm #104933
What are the benefits of taking colostrum?May 22, 2013 at 12:30 pm #104934

I made this post about it the other day:
I am interested to know your opinion on the matter?May 22, 2013 at 1:18 pm #104935
I’m definitely interested. Every time I add a supplement, I do say, “ok, I can’t possibly add another.” I mean really, how much can a person take? But I am starting to feel like I need to do more in terms of immune system support. Keep us updated!May 25, 2013 at 10:24 am #105089
Any update, Mrs. C?May 25, 2013 at 12:47 pm #105090

What brand did you go for?May 25, 2013 at 10:02 pm #105115
Sequel. It’s a Canadian brand. The milk is collected in the first 6 hours, which is the best I saw. I accidentally bought their lozenges first, and noticed immediately the presence of sugar. No noticeable reaction, thankfully. I’ve now ordered two bottles of capsules, but if I notice an improvement I’m going to order more right away as I believe the company has already been purchased by Vega and is discontinuing the product.May 28, 2013 at 9:55 pm #105292

Mine is powdered I take 1tsp. 2 X’s a day. The die off only lasted 2 days. It took me 20 minutes to get really angry for no reason the first 4 times I took it ????? Now I feel nothing, maybe a bit of energy, you could use in place of coffee.
Are you guys taking L Glutimine too? I’m thinking of adding it today.May 29, 2013 at 10:44 am #105311
I keep on trying colostrum off and on, and I don’t think it is that bad. I know the doctor right now wants me to take 1 cap of l-glutamine a day, small dose. I might ask him about the colostrum on my phone consult next week. Currently, I am just trying to decided on the sf722. I get depressed, angry, gas, bloating, tired, major die-off from it. The gas and bloating from it are awful, and then I feel like I react to everything. Yesterday, I pretty much just ate veggies all day, and drank some herbal teas just to give my gut a break, no protein yesterday, not even eggs. I just do not think it is that great for me. I have to ask him about that, too. Good luck, but I do not see the harm in doing both l-glutamine and colostrum.May 29, 2013 at 10:45 am #105312
Oh, and I have tolerated the goat milk colostrum much better.May 29, 2013 at 11:32 am #105314
I’ve read in a lot of places, including here, that l-glutamine won’t help much until the candida is on its last legs. I have a bottle of the stuff, but it’s pretty expensive and I’m taking enough supplememnts as is. I’ll probably wait for it. That said, I’m fortunate in that while I have some pretty serious neurological problems as a result of candida, I don’t really exhibit a lot of leaky gut symptoms.
