HOW DO I KNOW IF THE DIET IS DOING ANYTHING? Are there any visible signs, for example, in stool? I’m exhausted from the routine and going broke due to the primarily raw, organic diet.
I’ve been on Lisa Richard’s diet for 91 days now, self imposed, as I could check the majority of items on the candida quiz. I have followed it strictly. I started with a 9-day detox and progressed to the strict diet. At the same time, I started an anti-parasite and heavy metal detox program as prescribed by an bioenergy practitioner. This includes affirmations 3 times/day with fish oil, vitamins, supplements such as cilantro and milk thistle, etc.
I’ve been taking probiotics for about 10 years. Before this diet, I was already dabbling with the FODMAP and alkaline diets. FODMAP has helped. I make my own kefir, etc. I’m just now starting to allow a millet, quinoa, amaranth, etc. 2-4 times a week.
I run, but to give my adrenal system a break, I stopped 4 months ago, and am just starting up again.
Except for my fingernails getting mildly thicker and my acne barely improving, which I attribute more to the tea tree oil and other known anti-acne herbs in my regimen and the two IV facial peels I had done before I came off of Yaz, which has been the only thing besides accutane to keep my skin clear, [h]I don’t see/feel ANY improvement.[/h] Actually, I often feel a mix of spacier/dizzier in the forefront of my head, trouble with anxiety and my belly always protrudes, where it used to lie flat.
I’m on this journey to try to save the rest of my life from the chronic pain of UTIs and phantom UTIs I’ve been dealing with for over 26 years now, in addition to a lifetime of other digestive, skin, sinus, nerve, immune problems. The UTIs alone have been a major financial burden.
I’ve had UTIs due to both e-coli and strep B, therefore 52+ courses of antibiotics, since I’ve had at least two UTIs a year since I started getting them. I trusted traditional western medicine until 12 years ago, frustrated, I added acupuncture and started exploring. Have been through 3 urologists and their tests. Three and two years ago I was skin tested for food and environmental allergies. Only a mild allergy to dust mites came back. However, eliminating gluten lessened my digestive issues, and I found that soy, even fermented, makes my acne worse, even though I’m apparently not allergic to either.
Last year, I had a gastroenterologist dismiss me when a basic blood test came back within normal range, and simply prescribed Miralax for my constipation. Oddly enough it made it worse. I slowed to once every four days.
I’ve had two basic blood tests in the last year…nothing except low on vitamin D. My general practitioner did a blood test for immunoglobulin, (IgG, I think). That came back negative/normal. She tried to order the comprehensive stool test and tartaric acid test, but the LabCorp employee couldn’t find them in the code list, they don’t do them. My primary didn’t even know what candida overgrowth was.
That’s when I turned to the bioenergy practitioner, and am ready to move onto something else, and am open to naturopath, holistic ENT, nutritionist, or other who have a clue and may have some answers. Am open to suggestions and how long it took you to start to see real improvement.
