Just wanted to thank you for this very inspiring post. I am new to this forum. I’ve had a constant vaginal yeast infection for over ten years and I’m at my wit’s end, like some of the others who’ve responded here. I have two questions – how long had you had the constant infection before you started the diet? And how did you know when you’d ‘got it right’ – after two years did it just disappear?
Oh my gosh, I thought I was alone in the Universe: I’ve been suffering for over 10 years as well! I have to say, I did get rid of it for over one year, but then I fell off the wagon, ate a lot of Splenda (sucralose)and sugar, and I am back in Hell again.
How I got rid of it was by Candida diet, which was pretty much a low-carb diet without cheese or milk products except of yogurt. Then, I was taking natural anti-candida supplements that are mentioned on this site (capryl, coconut oil, oil of oregano, …), plus a high-dose probiotics 25billion two times daily. It took me a little over a year for my yeast infections to stop. They just stopped and I never got another one…I could go to a pool, I could exercise without wearing cotton , I could wear tight jeans…I was completely healed…Until, I started eating crap again.
This time is my second time trying to do the diet and it feels like it’s about 100 times harder. I was diagnosed with C.glabrata which is restitant to everything, even diflucan. The only thing that gives me relieve is Boric Acid: I make my own capsules: size 00, I buy Boric Acid online. For those of you who are desperate, try boric acid capsules. DO NOT SWALLOW THEM! boric acid can harm kidneys if swallowed. However, it doesn’t do any damage in vagina.
Overall, the first post is great. Really a lot of good information.
