I know the tale of how reishi mushrooms are supposed to build the immune system, etc. and how some fungi aren’t actually bad for humans but can have a positive effect in some cases. But the real problem with this type of medicinal mushrooms (shiitakes are another one) is their ability to act as a rather powerful, natural antibiotic which, according to reports, is very capable of destroying bacteria in the human body. My thought is, “Do the mushrooms know the difference between good and bad bacteria?” Or will they have the same effect that doctor-prescribed antibiotics do on the intestines of a human?
This is something I suppose we either take a chance on or not.
