Was eczema or psoriasis one of your symptoms? They’re both inflammatory conditions, so it really makes sense to do what you can to lower inflammation. If you read the paper from Nature that I posted above, you can see how unbalanced gut flora causes inflammation, but also the role of diet in causing and soothing it. Ignoring one of these factors could make reducing inflammation so much harder or even impossible.
Everyone can benefit from reducing inflammation, and there’s no reason anti-inflammatory dietary measures can’t work alongside anti-candida ones. You just need to watch out for “hidden” omega-6s and and take enough fish oil to help your symptoms. Everything else seems to be covered by a low-carb, grain-free wholefoods diet that excludes vegetable oils.
The big challenge will still be balancing the gut flora and regulating immunity again, but taking away a big source of the problem and potentially soothing or eliminating symptoms can’t be a bad thing!
