Removing amalgam fillings is known to cause far greater mercury exposure then letting them sit where they are.
Replacing amalgam fillings with composite fillings is therefore useless. It should only be done when the amalgam filling has reached the end of its lifetime anyway.
When placing a composite fillings, be sure to choose one that’s BPA free. BPA is known to emulate hormones in the body (it isn’t a hormone, but it’s chemically similar to a hormone so the body reacts as if it were a hormone). Replacing amalgam fillings with BPA-containing composite fillings may be the worst thing you can do.
