I am also experiencing a tonof phlegm & throat clearing. There were always certain foods that caused that with me (eggs, potatoes, dairy, etc.,) but ever since starting the cleanse, I pretty much hack for 10-20 minutes after I eat anything… I even became mucus-y after drinking water after a walk one evening. I was told that mucus usually means an allergic reaction, but Raster made a good point that maybe it’s just my lungs detoxing themselves. Is there anything I can do to lessen it? It’s to the point where I’m almost afraid to eat.
If it’s actual phlegm that you’re experiencing and not just mucus, then it is for certain coming from the lungs. During periods of detoxing the body, toxins are expelled from the body in many different ways (the diet alone serves as a type of ongoing detox). Most of the time it’s in the form of rashes seen any place on the body, but it seems that either mucus or phlegm also plays a part in this most of the time.
The fact that the phlegm is being expelled is at least a positive factor, because it’s important to keep it moving out of the body. Drinking lots and lots of water will generally cause the phlegm to be thinner which makes it easier to expel.
Keeping a vaporizer in the immediate area with either saline or peroxide can help as well. Taking cayenne pepper by mouth is good for stimulating and releasing the fluid in to the lungs; this also keeps the phlegm thinned out, and fenugreek seed does the same thing. Two herbs called osha and horehound help with expelling the phlegm from the body.
Of course, Candida can infest the lungs just as well as they can the vagina or intestines. Have you experienced any other symptoms along with the phlegm?
