I’ve used some chinese medicines and herbs and feel that they are incredibly variable in their effectiveness.

One I take right now called rehmannia six formula contains rehmannia root, chinese yam, asiatic dogwood fruit, asian water plantain, and poria sclerotium. This is great for your kidneys. I have a frequent urination problem and sometimes need to urinate in my sleep which wakes me up. This stuff totally helps my problem.

I recently took another one for a cold I had and it seems to work ok (can’t really tell).

There are so many uses and types of herbs that its likely difficult to find something that you’ll need the most. I’d say general detox, liver, kidney, or anti-oxidant herbs are a good way to go.

As far as acupuncture, I find it to be quite effective and is a cornerstone of my treatment. You can go in feeling like junk and come out feeling like a million bucks.
