Javizy, symptoms like scratchy throat, low grade feverish feeling, and major fatigue after you eat something…are these typical candida symptoms? I know they’re allergy symptoms but the candida always throws me for a loop, I end up confused about what’s causing it.
I’m no expert and, as the discussion has implied, diagnosing allergies can be pretty complicated. Your symptoms sounds more like leaky gut, since nothing you’re eating should be feeding candida.
I think oversimplifying your diet is a bad idea and you should do what you can to avoid it, but if you do have an allergy, then obviously you’ll have no choice. In general, you should do what you can to balance your gut flora, avoid stressing your digestive system (chew well, avoid big meals, relax while eating etc) and try healing any leaky gut problems. In addition, maybe you could try the following.
– Supplementing betaine HCl and digestive bitters/enzymes to improve digestion.
– Eating smaller amounts of foods you suspect in an effort to adjust your gut flora.
– Elimination (avoid suspect foods and attempt reintroduction after 2-3 weeks) if nothing else works.
Like I said, I’m not expert, so hopefully someone with more experience can give their input. I’m sure you’ll make progress if you persist with the protocol. It can be confusion and demotivating at times with all the reactions, symptoms and whatever else, but keep up the fight.
Thank you for you reply! Yes, I’ve been pretty sure that I have leaky gut and have been trying to work on healing it. I just wasn’t sure if those were candida symptoms or what. I’ve heard a lot of people say that oversimplifying your diet is not a good idea, it’s just so hard sometimes to know if you should push through the symptoms in hopes that they’ll go away or if it’s a sign that it’s doing damage. My most recent reaction was to Buckwheat and I’ve reacted to brown rice in the same way…quinoa seems to be the only “grain” I can tolerate. I will definitely keep up the fight though! 🙂
