    Hey guys i had my first appointment with a homeopath and she referred this cleanse to me. It’s essentially suggesting a short regimen of baking soda and maple syrup (heated and mixed together). Page 7 and 8 really get to it. >

    Candida: An In-Home Anti-Fungal Program

    I believe it is wise that we all practice prevention against the
    proliferation of Candida yeast in our bodies, in order to keep our
    immune system strong. In this article, I share with you some of the
    specific foods and supplements for a three weeks anti-candida program
    that I do once every six months. This creates the kind of internal
    environment in my body that will enhance yeast elimination.
    What is Candida Albicans?
    It is a yeast infection of the bloodstream that can cause a wide variety of symptoms
    from depression to skin rashes. It is an unfriendly soft-shell yeast that grows normally
    in our intestinal tract. But just because the unfriendly yeast is in our intestinal tract
    does not mean that we all automatically have the condition called Candidiasis.
    What is it that leads to the condition known as Candidiasis?
    Obviously, if the normal protective mechanism that keeps the unfriendly yeast of the
    Candida at bay in the intestine gets weakened, then we are going to have problems. Our
    normal protection against the intestinal Candida are the friendly bacteria such as the
    most common strain known as acidophilus. There is another friendly yeast known as
    lactic acid yeast that also helps us keep Candida at bay.
    It makes sense then that if something happens to our friendly bacteria, that the
    unfriendly bacteria is going to grow. The yeast then begins to proliferate. The
    numbers get so intense that the unfriendly yeast begin to climb directly through the
    intestinal lining into the bloodstream. It can do this because it is a soft-shell yeast.
    Once the Candida gets into the bloodstream, it can play havoc with the body. Research
    has shown that the Candida loves sugar. Whenever it is fed sugar, it will produce some
    42 different toxins that can cause problems in the body or aggravate existing problems.
    Therefore, there is not one particular symptom that the Candida will always cause. It
    can be a variety of symptoms, all the way from depression to moodiness, to skin rashes
    or fingernail fungus. The list of Candida symptoms, therefore, can be very long.
    The anti-candida program to follow for three weeks:
    When you want to fight Candida, you have to address it with a variety of weapons.
    Certainly, friendly bacteria is one of these weapons, but the trick is in how much you
    take and the quality of the friendly bacteria product.
    A good anti-Candida program is to spend 3 weeks taking all the right supplements in
    large quantities and eating the right foods while avoiding foods that Candida thrives on.
    • Start by taking small quantities of acidophilus and bifidus. One of each for a few
    days, then 2 of each, and so on. Take your probiotics with a glass of water first thing in
    the AM on an empty stomach. Get to 10 capsules of each. Now you are ready to
    introduce a wide-spectrum probiotics supplement. I suggest to open all the capsules,
    pour the powder on a tablespoon and swallow it with water. (I hate to see all these
    capsules going into your body.) Build up to 10 acidophilus, 10 bifidus and 10 widespectrum
    probiotics a day. Stay at that level for 3 weeks and then start decreasing the
    amounts until you get to what is comfortable for you to take daily to maintain your
    health. I personally take 3 each of these probiotics a day for maintenance.
    • When you start taking 10 of each of the friendly bacteria every day, start taking
    fresh organic garlic every day.
    Garlic is the ultimate anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral medicinal food. Garlic is
    recommended in this nutritional program for its healing properties with Candida. Best
    used fresh…raw, organic garlic destroys unfriendly bacteria and boosts immune function.
    Garlic is high in sulfur, which is one of the most important minerals needed by your body
    to do its detoxification work.
    To maximize garlic’s superlative anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-parasitical activity,
    use it in the following way. Before going to sleep at night, finely chop 1 to 2 cloves of
    garlic. Put the chopped garlic on a tablespoon and swallow it with water. Do not chew
    it. There will be absolutely no garlic odor on your breath if you do not chew the garlic.
    Your first bowel movement after starting will have a garlic odor. This is a sign that this
    superfood was active in your GI tract while you were sleeping and regenerating. Garlic
    tirelessly patrols your intestinal tract all night long, as a “toxic-garbage cop” helping to
    neutralize, dismantle, and eliminate bacteria, viruses, parasites and carcinogens.
    Build up to 3 cloves every night. Do not continue to eat raw garlic more than 3
    weeks in a row.
    • You need to get to 10 of each of acidophilus, bifidus, wide-spectrum probiotics, 3
    cloves of garlic and stay at this level for at least 3 weeks. You can then reduce
    everything and drop amounts slowly until you get down to 5 of each of the probiotics,
    then drop the amounts further to 3 of each and you should stay at these levels of
    friendly bacteria for life to continue supporting a healthy intestinal tract.
    • Avoid excess fat in your diet: Excess fat is the culprit in Candida, more than
    sugar, per se. When fat levels in the blood rise, so does blood sugar, because excess fat
    inhibits insulin from performing its function of escorting sugar out of the bloodstream.
    The excess fat lines the blood vessel walls, the cells’ insulin receptor sites, the sugar
    molecules themselves, and the insulin…with a thin coating of fat, thus blocking and
    inhibiting normal metabolic activity. Too much sugar in the blood is as life-threatening
    as too little and can result in serious illness.
    Candida is a constant presence in the blood; it serves as a life-preservation mechanism,
    blooming when there is an excess of sugar in the blood stream to bring blood sugar
    down to a non-threatening level. When the sugar is distributed and used by the cells of
    the body, the yeast quickly dies off as it is supposed to. If fat levels stay chronically high
    due to a poor diet, sugar will remain in the bloodstream and feed the large Candida
    colonies instead of feeding the 18 trillion cells of your body. Starved for fuel, these cells
    can no longer metabolize energy, and you become tired, and feel rundown. Because all
    carbohydrate, fat, and protein that we eat is converted to simple sugar (glucose), if it is
    to be used by the cells for fuel, the way out of this cycle is to consume less fat. When fat
    levels drop, the sugar starts to get processed and distributed again, and the yeast levels
    drop because there is no longer excess sugar available.
    My recommendation is to use raw coconut oil for cooking and organic butter and cold
    pressed olive oil if you have to use them in your cold preparation for salad dressings or a
    • Here’s a list of foods that feed yeast and that you should avoid, not just to stop
    the yeast infections, but to stay healthy forever:
    Breads with processed flours (white or brown), pastas from processed flours, bottled
    juice (even if the juice was organic because of pasteurization the sugar in the juice
    become processed sugar), wine, beer, and dairy products (cheese and milk products)
    because they create mucous that feeds the yeast.
    Low sugar fruits are OK to eat in an anti-Candida program. I am sure that some
    of you will disagree about eating fruits in an anti-Candida program because of their high
    sugar content. But there are two schools of thoughts when it comes to Candida. One
    school believes that Candida will thrive if fruits are eaten, and the other school believes
    fruits do not feed candida. I tend to agree with the school that believes that fruits
    cannot feed Candida. Fruits are the best and most efficient way for our bodies to
    make energy and energy is needed for any healing process. Most individuals, including
    medical doctors today who attack sugars, don’t differentiate between sugars in fruits or
    sugars in simple carbohydrates. There is a huge difference between the two sugars.
    Sugars in fruits do not raise blood sugar or feed Candida. Sugars from fruits and
    veggies have enzymes attached to them and all the other co-factors needed to produce
    energy in the body. Energy is produced efficiently from sugars in fruits. Fruits also
    have fiber in them. Therefore, these sugars are absorbed through the hepatic pathway
    from the small intestine, and they end up in the liver to be processed further. The liver
    will store the sugars and put glucose back into the blood only when needed. The sugars
    in fruits are perfect to create energy and they NEVER raise blood sugar levels…as long as
    you eat the fruit whole and raw.
    On the other hand, sugars from processed foods like breads (including wheat breads),
    pasta, white rice, or any processed carbohydrates will be absorbed through the
    lymphatic pathway, bypassing the liver, and are led directly to the blood. This kind of
    sugar will feed Candida. Therefore, excess glucose is dumped in the blood stream
    whether the body needs it or not. The body will react by producing insulin in large
    quantities to handle the glucose in the blood. This is a vicious cycle that can exhaust
    the adrenal glands and in general stress systems in the body.
    • The following sweet herbs can be used daily as support for the intestinal tract
    during this anti-Candida program. In the initial stages of this healing process, I
    recommend that you use this tea once or twice a day for three weeks.
    The ingredients for the tea are anise, caraway and fennel seeds plus ginger. Take a
    heaping teaspoon of each of the different seeds and add water to make a cup of tea.
    Slice two or three thin pieces of organic fresh ginger. Bring to a boil and continue to
    boil for 5 minutes. This tea is very calming to the stomach, especially if you are going
    through any uncomfortable detoxification symptoms. It reduces gas, nausea and
    bloating. Ginger is known to be a very strong anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent.
    • High quality fiber is important in the fight against Candida. Research has shown
    the health benefits of a diet high in fiber. They include regularity, lower cholesterol,
    protection against certain forms of cancer, and stabilized blood sugar levels.
    To maintain intestinal hygiene, you need about 35 to 40 grams of different fiber
    sources everyday (e.g., bran, cellulose, lignin, pectin, etc.), all found in different
    organically-grown, ripe seasonal fruit, whole grains, and colorful vegetables. Eating
    these foods provides the added fiber that will bulk up in your intestines, gently sweeping
    the colon clean of extra estrogen, hormones, toxins, waste debris of cellular metabolism
    and soak up excess cholesterol. Do not try to “mega-dose” on one type of fiber, like
    oat bran, as you need each (all) of the different basic fibers for proper bowel cleansing.
    The following foods are particularly known to add to the healthy condition of your
    intestine, specifically because of their fiber content: Flax seed, also known for its antiharmful
    bacteria properties, prunes, mangos and coconut meat.
    • Virgin coconut oil: One of the most amazing aspects of coconut oil is its ability
    to fight Candida. When coconut oil is consumed, the body transforms its unique fatty
    acids into powerful anti-microbial powerhouses capable of defeating some of the most
    notorious disease-causing microorganisms. Even the super germs are vulnerable to
    these lifesaving coconut derivatives. Coconut oil is, in essence, a natural anti-bacterial,
    anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-protozoal food.
    Coconut oil’s anti-microbial effects come from its unique composition of medium chain
    fatty acids (MCFA). Coconut oil is composed of 48 percent lauric acid, 7 percent capric
    acid, 8 percent caprylic acid, and .5 percent carproic acid. These medium-chain fatty
    acids give coconut oil its amazing anti microbial properties and are generally absent
    from all other vegetables and animal oils with the exception of butter.
    MCFA are natural substances the body knows how to use for its benefit. They are
    harmless to us while they are deadly to certain microorganisms. Most bacteria and
    viruses are encased in a coat of lipids (fats). The fatty acids that make up this outer
    membrane or skin hold together the organism’s DNA. Lipid-coated viruses and bacteria
    are easily killed by MCFA, which primarily destroy these organisms by disrupting their
    lipid membranes. MCFA, being similar to those in the microorganism’s membrane, are
    easily attracted to and absorbed into it. Unlike the other fatty acids in the membrane,
    MCFA are much smaller and, therefore, weaken the already nearly fluid membrane to
    such a degree that it disintegrates. The membrane splits open, spilling its insides and
    killing the organism. Our white blood cells quickly clean up and dispose of the cellular
    debris. MCFA kill invading organisms without causing any harm to human tissues.
    The potential coconut oil has in treating and preventing a wide assortment of infections
    is truly astounding, ranging from the flu to life-threatening conditions such as AIDS.
    • Drink a glass of this excellent high fiber (kale) and high anti-bacterial ingredient
    (coconut water) smoothie a day. Combine in a blender the following ingredients:
    — Fresh baby green coconut water
    — Kale
    — Bananas
    — Frozen cherries
    • Enzyme therapy: Systemic enzyme therapy is used to reduce inflammation,
    stimulate the immune system, improve circulation, help speed tissue repair, bring
    nutrients to the damaged area, remove waste products, improve health, strengthen the
    body as a whole, and build general resistance.
    Digestive enzyme therapy is used to improve the digestion of food, reduce stress on the
    gastrointestinal mucosa, help maintain normal pH levels, detoxify the body, and
    promote the growth of healthy intestinal flora. Digestive enzymes also serve as
    replacements for the body’s pancreatic enzymes, leaving the pancreatic enzymes free to
    perform other functions in the body such as boosting immunity.
    Take three digestive enzymes on an empty stomach three times a day and three
    digestive enzymes with each meal. Do not purchase any digestive enzymes that are
    not micro-blended with whole foods. Enzymes need minerals to work and whole foods,
    like the mineral-rich blue green algae, will make enzymes work better in the intestinal
    tract. The enzyme I advise has fennel, ginger, cayenne and organic blue green algae.
    • Take 6 to 8 capsules of wild-crafted organic blue green algae because of its
    incredible nutrient profile, especially the carotenoids family. Carotenoids are potent
    antioxidants needed to enhance the health of the digestive system, especially the
    intestinal lining.
    • Take an antioxidant supplement like Coenzyme Q10 –2 capsules a day with food.
    • Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water in between meals.
    You might go through a candida die-off periods where you are not feeling good
    (bloated, congested….etc.). Don’t stop the program, because candida will
    come back even stronger. These feelings should go away quickly.
    After three weeks of following this anti-candida program, you will definitely regain the
    upper hand in the battle against Candidiasis. I recommend repeating this program once
    every six months….so enjoy better health!
    Natural Remedy for Fungus & Tumors:

    articles and research about Anti-Fungus diets and ‘cures.’ This
    one got my attention because it’s unique, inexpensive and
    How did I find this simple Soda / Syrup Treatment? I stumbled
    across it at the Alkalize For Health website when I was
    researching fungus treatments.
    I happen to believe that it is possible that an over-growth of fungus (or Candidiasis)
    could be responsible for many dis-eases and tumors. (Yes, you’ll note that this article
    does not use the ‘disease names,’ so feel free to make inferences.) This article
    discusses why baking soda and maple syrup COULD be the answer to Candida
    overgrowth and other tumors.
    How it works
    The acid/alkaline balance of the fluids in your body is of utmost importance for wellness
    as covered in many books and articles. Ask me for references. As stated on Stephen
    Porter’s Alkalize For Health website, ‘The pH balance of the human bloodstream is
    recognized by medical physiology texts as one of the most important biochemical
    balances in all of human body chemistry. Our body pH is very important because pH
    controls the speed of our body’s biochemical reactions.’
    ‘The bicarbonate maple syrup [tumor] treatment focuses on delivering natural
    chemotherapy in a way that effectively kills [malignant] cells, but significantly reduces
    the brutal side effects experienced with most standard chemotherapy treatments. In
    fact, so great is the reduction that the dangers are brought down to zero. Costs, which
    are a factor for the majority of people, of this particular treatment are nil. Though this
    [tumor] treatment is very inexpensive, do not assume it is not effective. The bicarbonate
    maple syrup [tumor] treatment is a very significant [tumor] treatment every [tumor]
    patient should be familiar with and it can easily be combined with other safe and
    effective natural treatments.
    Although the Alkalize For Health website deals with (what most consider to be) lifethreatening
    tumors, these Canadian authors, headed by Stephen Porter, champion the
    research of Italian oncologist, Dr. Tullio Simoncini, who pioneered this alkalizing method,

    Dr. Tullio Simoncini reports that tumor cells gobble up sugar, so when you encourage
    the intake of sugar it’s like sending in a Trojan horse. The sugar is not going to end up
    encouraging the further growth of the tumor colonies, because the baking soda is going
    to kill the cells before they have a chance to grow.
    This formula is a combination of pure, 100% maple syrup and baking soda and was first
    reported on a website that presents alternative tumor treatments. When mixed and
    heated together, the maple syrup and baking soda bind together. The maple syrup
    targets malignant cells (which consume 15 times more glucose than normal cells) and
    the alkaline baking soda, which is dragged into the tumor cell by the maple syrup, forces
    a rapid shift in pH, thus killing the cell.
    Scientific research AND Home Remedy
    “There is not a tumor on God’s green earth that cannot be licked with a little baking
    soda and maple syrup.” That is the astonishing claim of controversial folk healer, Jim
    Kelmun, who says that this simple home remedy can stop and reverse the deadly
    growth of malignant cells. His loyal patients swear by the man they fondly call Dr. Jim
    and say he is a miracle worker. “Dr. Jim cured me of lung [tumors],” said farmer Ian
    Roadhouse. “Those other doctors told me that I was a goner and had less then six
    months to live. But the doc put me on his mixture and in a couple of months the [tumor]
    was gone. It did not even show up on the x-rays.”
    Dr. Jim discovered this treatment accidentally, somewhere in the middle of the last
    century, when he was treating a family plagued by breast tumors. There were five
    sisters in the family and four of them had died of breast malignancies. He asked the
    remaining sister if there was anything different in her diet and she told him that she was
    partial to sipping maple syrup and baking soda. According to a newspaper in Ashville,
    North Carolina, Dr. Jim dispensed this remedy to over 200 people diagnosed with
    terminal malignancies, and he claims of that number 185 lived at least 15 more years,
    with nearly half enjoying a complete remission of their disease. When combined with
    other safe and effective natural treatments, one might expect even higher remission
    Dr. Jim did not know or have contact with Dr. Simoncini, one of the only oncologists who
    advocates the combining of sugar with bicarbonate.
    According to researchers, the maple syrup apparently enables and increases penetration
    of bicarbonate into all compartments of body, even those that are difficult or impossible
    to penetrate by other means. These compartments include the central nervous system
    (CNS), through the blood-brain barrier, tissues, joints, solid tumors, and perhaps even
    the eyes. The maple syrup will transport the bicarbonate across the blood-brain barrier
    and other barriers in the body, for all cells in the body universally need sugar.
    The baking soda (bicarbonate) hits the malignant cells with a shock wave of alkalinity,
    which allows more oxygen into the tumor cells than they can tolerate. Malignant cells
    cannot survive high levels of oxygen.
    Wellness Anti-fungal Diet
    This article deals with one particular anti-fungal treatment, and there is a whole wellness
    diet that contributes to elimination of dis-ease. Whether you pay $25,000 for a German
    tumor clinic, or use a $100 holistic treatment and get rid of every tumor cell in your
    body, you need a good anti-fungal, alkalizing diet. Ask me for articles on a healthy diet.
    Just as everyone’s intestines harbor Candida Albicans, a normal person has abnormal
    tumor cells form all the time. It is not a problem because their immune system handles
    the malignant cells routinely.
    The Soda / Syrup Recipe
    The actual recipe is to mix one part baking soda (natural, with no aluminum) with three
    parts pure, 100% maple syrup in a small steel pan and mix with a spoon. (I find that 2
    tablespoons of soda, with 6 tablespoons of syrup yields enough for a week.) Stir briskly
    and heat the mixture for 5 minutes, over medium heat. Take 1 to 3 teaspoons daily, for
    5 to 7 days.
    Naturally, I use a stainless steel saucepan (You do know the dangers of aluminum,
    right?) and a wooden spoon, which just glides better. The mixture will froth up and
    needs mostly-constant stirring for the five minutes. The Soda / Syrup cools to the
    consistency of a thick honey. If you heat the mixture too much (higher than medium
    heat) or too long (more than 5 minutes), it will be thick and less easy to handle.
    The taste? Well….licking the spatula brings back happy memories, however the taste is
    heavy on baking soda, with an after-taste of maple syrup. All in all, not a bad tasting
    ‘medicine’ for Candidiasis! You can take your teaspoon anytime of the day, however I
    usually take one before breakfast (on an empty stomach) and one before bed.
    Afterwards, I brush my teeth.
    My own belief and personal experience is that the Soda/ Syrup Anti-Candida Treatment
    works best AFTER the ‘In Home Anti-Fungal’ Program (See earlier Donia Alawi’s article).
    Also, this treatment worked better when I semi-fasted for 3 days in the middle of the
    week. For me, that was a green, micro-algae protein smoothie (with half a power bar)
    for breakfast and lunch and dinner of an organic salad and bowl of light soup……in other
    words, no heavy foods, meat or dairy. When I ‘cheated’ and had sugar, wine or too
    many carbs during my treatment week, I needed two weeks of the mixture.
    My personal protocol included this Soda / Syrup mixture, along with other Candidafighting
    foods, such as garlic, edible micro-algae, acidophilus, flax oil, kale, coconut oil,
    no sugars, etc. Drink lots of water and consider extra fiber (psyllium in wafers or clear
    fiber in fizzy health drink?) to move the die-off out of your intestines. Be sure to brush
    your teeth after anything sticky/sweet.
    One other remedy: My friend, Isabelle, has told me that OliveLeaf was good for
    Candida. I had heard that before and saw no difference when I took the caps.
    However, recently I tried the LIQUID from Barlean’s. It worked beautifully with the
    soda/syrup treatment…and even after the regime.
    You MAY have some die-off symptoms, however I had very few, probably because I
    have been eating a whole foods, mostly anti-fungal diet. You’ll know you’re back in
    control when the symptoms lessen or vanish. For example, you may sleep better, have
    softer skin, be happier, have less gas, have more energy, etc.
    Feel free to contact me for articles about detox and Candida die-off. If you have
    moderate to severe die-off symptoms, you would be wise to cut back on your anti-fungal
    program to reduce the number of dead yeast cells and toxic waste material your body
    has to cope with. An Epsom salts bath is always a good detox remedy.
    Obviously, this Soda / Syrup mixture is a home remedy, and not all physicians or health
    professionals will endorse it. Let your intuition guide you as to the appropriateness for
    you. For me, it’s a quick and easy answer to a troubling condition of fungus overgrowth
    (or Candidiasis). Let me know how it works for you.

    I’m not really surprised at the homeopath doc’s suggestions, even though …
    plenty of ER doctors and nurses can tell you stories about the patients brought to the ER for a condition known as high alkalosis (over-alkalizing the body). This is more times than not brought on by a daily ingestion of baking soda. The patients brought in for this reason generally require a breathing tube and mechanical breathing support.

    The normal pH of the blood is quite narrow at a range of only 7.35 to 7.45, and this balance is necessary for proper functioning of all organs. Then there’s managing the narrow window of balance, meaning it’s very delicately managed by the lungs and kidneys, and it takes the body far longer to respond to and correct high alkaline readings [alkaline = baking soda] than it does high acidic readings [acidic = beneficial bacteria].

    Attempting to self correct the pH balance by ingesting baking soda in water (let’s not even think about maple syrup) does not make the dullest knife in the drawer sharper.
