After explaining that I believe I have candida and the diet plan I am she proceeded to say the following.
“I dont believe that Candida is causing the thrush around your face, Candida was a big thing in the 90s and was blamed for a number of issues and now its making a comeback, I dont buy into it and you wont find answers from blogs online also the diet is not healthy for your immune system”
This doctor I recently joined after moving to the area, I find it very frustrating as my skin is a mess and I have tried everything and I keep getting different opinions with what I have. Jus dont know what to do anymore I jus want my skin to be clear.July 15, 2011 at 7:14 am #64123

I know that was so frustrating, thinking you are going to get help and then have them to tell you that, basically, you simply don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m afraid it’s very rare to find a regular MD who will treat, or even believe that anyone has Candida (but not impossible). That could be because, for the most part, they have no idea what to do if they admit that Candida may be your problem.
If you really want to consult a doctor about Candida, you’ll probably need to search for an alternative medicine practitioner such as with Naturopathic Medicine. I don’t know about in the UK, but in the states a lot of people find a chiropractic doctor who will listen to them and treat their Candida.
If you decide to do all of this yourself, and intend to dedicate yourself to your treatment and health until you’re better, this is the place to come for help. Let us know when you’re ready to start. Asking questions is a perfect way to learn, and there will always be someone willing to answer you.
By the way, another name for thrush is Candidiasis, so that tells you a lot about the doctor’s knowledge in this field.

When I went to my doctor with really painful stomach cramps and constipation I said I wondered if I had candida. I asked if there were any tests I could have. He said no, I just had IBS. I didn’t really expect anything more, but it still really wound me up.
If you’re looking for professional help my advice is to find someone who specialises in the condition and has either suffered it or knows someone who has. I have studied holistic nutrition, but only learnt anything about candida since finding out I have it.
Have you started cutting foods out of your diet yet? If you have, how is your skin looking, have you noticed any improvements?
This will be your best indication for what you need to do; what foods work for you and what you need to avoid.
I don’t see the diet as bad for your immune system at all. Most of the foods we have to cut out are so challenging to our systems, to everyone’s systems. As long as you make sure you are eating enough (of the right foods) with an abundance of vegetables, then this is perfect for your immune system to stop having to battle with inappropriate foods, heal itself and start battling the candida.
