Marilyn (who I purchased milk kefir grains from) said cold milk takes much longer for kefir to ferment than 24 hours. I strained my first attempt at 24 hours and it basically was just milk — she said it was not done.
I hear you on how much the probiotics cost.. I am trying to purchase the ones recommended via forum and its 62$ from Iherb! I found it on Amazon for cheaper (48$), but have no idea if they ship it in ice so I waited.
