It is a good start, however you do need to eat prebiotic foods like the example you provided oat bran will feed the good bacteria and repopulate in your gut to replace the dying yeast. Start very slowly with Kefir a tbsp or two to start off with. There are low carb sources of prebiotics if that is a concern such as garlic, onions, leeks, Jerusalem artichokes, asparagus, and chicory root coffee.
