Detoxing isn’t just about improving your diet and taking liver-supportive supplements. There are a number of alternative detox methods that you can try alongside more conventional techniques. Some simple lifestyle changes can have a huge impact on your body’s ability to quickly and efficiently remove toxins.
Detox is important during your Candida treatment for two reasons. Firstly, you need to remove the toxins that the Candida yeast releases into your body. This will help relieve some of those pesky Candida symptoms. Secondly, a good detox can help you get through Candida Die-Off, when the rapid killing of yeast cells results in large quantities of toxins being released into your bloodstream.
Saunas are beneficial during a Candida elimination program and are also useful in preventing a recurrence of the overgrowth. They improve immune system function and the rise in body temperature helps to restrict the Candida. Viruses and other pathogens struggle to survive at higher temperatures (that’s why your body generates a fever to eliminate viruses).
A good sauna will also increase blood circulation – another way to help eliminate Candida. Better circulation oxygenates your cells and helps your liver to remove toxins from your bloodstream.
Remember that your skin is your largest organ, responsible for something like 15% of all your toxin elimination. Saunas help to open your pores and keep this elimination pathway running smoothly. Sweating in the sauna can itself remove a significant amount of toxins.
Make sure that the sauna has not been treated with toxic chemicals, and be careful to drink lots of water. Stay in the sauna for 15-45 minutes, and make sure that the sauna is not too hot. If you find yourself sweating heavily after only 15 minutes, then you should turn the temperature down.
This technique is a great way to to eliminate Candida’s toxic metabolites yeast cells by stimulating the lymphatic system. The idea is that firm but gentle brush strokes across the skin will improve your blood circulation, enabling your body to eliminate Candida-related toxins faster.
First you need to buy a brush from your local health food store. It should have natural bristles and a long handle. Secondly, make sure your skin is dry. Many people do a skin brushing in the morning just before their shower, so that the dead skin cells are immediately washed away.
Start the skin brushing with the soles of your feet, using slow, gentle, circular movements. Move up your body, all the time brushing towards your chest, but be careful to avoid areas where your skin is particularly sensitive.
Here’s a great way to boost your immune system in the comfort of your own home. Contrast showers encourage improved circulation that carries away Candida toxins, while they can also increase the number of your white blood cells and boost your immune system.
Start with 3-5 minutes of hot water, followed by one minute or less of cold water. Repeat this cycle at least once. A good time to do a contrast shower is straight after the gym, perhaps before or after using the sauna.
Exercise is very important not only for your general health, but also in the fight against Candida Related Complex. Exercise activates your lymphatic system and increases the level of oxygen in your bloodstream. This plays a key role in optimal immune function, helpful in reducing the Candida colonies in your gut. And it can promote a healthy transit time through your digestive system too.
A good sweat also helps to eliminate toxins produced by your Candida overgrowth. Try to do 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise 4-5 days a week. It doesn’t need to be particularly strenuous – in fact, over-exercising can contribute to adrenal fatigue and a weakened immune system.
