Candida Diet

Step Two: Elimination

Candida Elimination

Now that you have done the Detox and cleansed your system, it’s time to move on to Step 2. This phase of the diet lasts a little longer, for 4 weeks. It involves attacking the Candida more directly, as well as introducing some foods back into your diet.

Key Points

Diet

Step 2 of the diet is much less strict in terms of the foods you can eat. In addition to the foods you can eat on Stage 1, you can also reintroduce some foods. You’ve gone through the 2-3 week Detox process, and it’s now time to return to a more varied diet.

You can start by adding back some fruits, particularly those with lower sugar content like apples and berries. Fruits that are high in sugar like oranges, grapes and bananas should still be avoided.

Some complex carbohydrates can also be added back into your diet, in small portions. These include sweet potatoes and beans. Although these will be broken down by your body into sugars that can promote Candida growth, they are whole foods that are broken down much more slowly. In the second stage of the diet, small portions of these complex carbs are OK.

Another crucial part of Step 2 is to drink lots and lots of water. This will help with the symptoms of Candida Die-Off and flush any toxins out of your body.

Antifungals

Now you can start using antifungals to really attack the Candida. There are a number of natural antifungals that you can take in supplement form or even add into your diet. If these don’t work you can talk to your doctor and try some antifungal medicines.

One of the hardest things is to figure out which antifungal to take. Actually there is no specific answer, so the best thing to do is to keep trying different remedies until you start recognizing the symptoms of Die-Off. For example you can try Oregano Oil for five days, and if that doesn’t work then you can move on to Caprylic Acid. Just keep going until something works, then stick with it.

If you can't fix on one remedy, then some people have actually got better results from rotating between them.

Antifungal Medicines

During Step 1 you may have experienced some Candida Die-Off symptoms (nausea, sweating, headaches). If so, it might be worth waiting a few days before starting the antifungal treatments. These will speed up the Candida Die-Off and possibly make the symptoms even worse.

Now on to Step 3!
