When you have BRAIN FOG it is very hard to think straight and remember stuff anyway but very very difficult to study and read up all of this conflicting stuff and digest it properly. I am not an idiot who reads something and instantly believes it. I know that a lot of the people might mean well but get it wrong. I would have a cupboard full of supplements and have had to sell my home to pay for them if I did! My naturopath tells me that you are only cured when you can return to eating anything you want. He also tells me you can eat carrots, mushrooms, whole wheat etc and yeast, it is the sugar you must avoid. And the yeast cannot multiply or thrive without it. Some of the people posting seem to think you can spend all day making various recipes as if it is a full time job to eat. Many are too busy working to do that. Many of them assume that because they cannot eat gluten or some other thing they are allergic to we are all the same. Some seem to take on “having candida” as their lifestyle choice preferring to talk about it and think about it all of the time rather than actually getting better and having a normal life. I work as a therapist and you get the same thing with people who have anxiety or depression. Instead of making an effort to get better they prefer to spend hours in chat rooms and forums talking about how awful they feel. They get addicted to attracting and getting attention. Which is a total waste of time and feeding their need.

As for all this talk about how you must never return to your old diet because you will get it again. That virtuall makes life unbearable. And it makes no sense. In my case my candida was caused by being on the pill and being told to take a lot of steroids and anti biotics over and over again. I refuse to take them now. So as I will not be not taking them the situation will not be the same.

We need hope but we need realistic hope. If you told most people that they would have to stay on the candida diet for the rest of their life to manage their symptoms then most of them would not bother or they would regularly cheat, because without those tasty tit bits that they enjoy eating sometimes their life is virtually unbearable, especially if they are foodies or they live with others and prepare meals for them at the same time. Nobody is going to sit there munching on a celery stick every day while every one else eats something far more tasty for the rest of their life. It is also far too expensive to be on this diet that long. Buying organic and special stuff costs a lot.

Thank you for posting this. I also feel like I am in my present situation because I was on bc pills and took steriods and antibiotics (twice). However, I wasn’t on the pills for long so I find it strange to think that I would have to give up all these foods for years when I see my mom and dad and some friends who have taken antibiotics and bc pills eat whatever they want and not have any health issues. It baffles me! I do believe that what I took damaged me in some way however before I recently took some prednisone a couple weeks ago my symptoms were getting better by me just avoiding foods that I am allergic too. However, as soon as I started the cleanse even though I started it wrong based on the instructions on this site, I felt worst and my allergy bumps multiplied even though I ate nothing I was allergic to. I have now quit the cleanse until I can see a natural doctor or any doctor who can perform some test for me. I want to be sure of exactly what I am treating and do it right.

Thank you for your response jay253. The thing is my tongue isn’t white anymore. I experienced it for a couple of months and it went away last year after I quit eating a lot of the foods I am allergic to. I took the olive oil and warm water and was finally able to go off this morning after waking up feeling extremely weak and feeling like my body was overheating. I am going to pause on the actual cleansing process because I started it all wrong by taking garlic and plain yogurt from the start. Doing that not only made me constipated and weak but I also started feeling sick and my allergy bumps multiplied overnight. I just finished taking prednisone about a week or two ago so that could also still be in my system. I am going to get the products recommended for the proper and safe cleanse and start over the right way. I am also trying to find a doctor so I can get tested. I ate homemade soup today that contained chicken, carrots and pumpkins, plus I also ate a few store bought almonds so I am hoping that I haven’t made things worse :(. I’m going to pray constantly so I can survive this.

“I basically wanted to do this post to see if anyone has similar symptoms since im basically wasting my time trying to do this through the medical route here 😐

this has been so long and drawn out i just really want to get my life back.

I completely feel your pain. I am now doing the cleanse and I feel so weak and frustrated. I too feel like my life has been taken away and even my friends say it to me. It sucks seeing them eat everything under the sun and I can’t eat anything at all so until my cleanse is over and until I can handle the diet I will have to be a tad anti-social.

I also understand your frustration with the medicinal doctors. I have been there too…kinda seems like they don’t listen to you at all. They just care about the money. Stay strong and try the candida diet. In my opinion, you have nothing to lose and if it works, you can slowly get your life back but this time you’ll be much better at eating healthy.

    Hi Eric,

I am so sorry to hear about your illness and I am no expert because I am new and looking for answers just like you but I can answer 1 or 2 of your questions.

My reactions are usually shortly after eating whatever I am allergic to. When I eat anything containing soy, within the hour my lips would develop allergy bumps. When I ate wheat and gluten products, my reactions would be pretty much instant and usually my facial rashes/bumps would appear the next day or later on in the day (depends on when I ate the food).

In terms of your lifestyle decisions, I can’t say for sure if it lead to candida but I do know with me, my allergies and all of my other issues only started after taking bc pills for 1.5 years and antibiotics (twice). I also ate horribly and didn’t exercise that much because I was naturally skinny.

I hope you find your answers soon!

Dr. Mcoomb’s feels that if you have ever taken antibiotics you likely have a gut flora imbalance. If you listen to some of his radio shows, you may be able to conclude you have it.

It sounds like you got die-off from trying out the diet, etc. so the symptoms you are experiencing should be alarming that something is going on…

The thing is we all have candida and parasites just at different levels; you can do some testing to see what levels you are at but not everyone can afford this.

Thank you raster! I will try to get tested as I would like to know what levels I have but I definitely think that I do have it. It is the only think that could explain what is happening to my body right now and after reading the list you gave me I see all my symptoms. I will try and read posts made on this site as much as I can. Thanks again.
