    Hi everyone.

I was on antibiotics last fall and after I was finished them I noticed my tongue became white. Around that time I was eating a lot of sweets and high sugar foods. My tongue is not painful and can not notice it other than the white coating.

My doctor first gave me 10 days of ratio nystatin which I swished and swallowed 4 times a day. It helped, but didn’t go away. So I did another 10 days of ration nystatin, once again it helped but did not go away. After this he gave me Apo-Ketoconazole, which is another anti-fungal. Once again, it helped but didn’t make it disappear. I have an appointment with a dentistry specialist in June. My dentist said he normally gives ratio nystatin as well for something like this.

I brush it regularly and can keep it relatively clean. I would say it is a milder case than that is in the picture in the link. However, If I went without brushing it for a few weeks, I’m sure it would be similar to this picture.

So my question is, what are your recommendations? I am starting Stage 1 of the Candida Diet tomorrow. By stage 1 I mean the cleanse stage. Is this going to fix this? Any suggestions or comments are helpful. Thanks.

Hello, Brit, welcome to the forum.

When I tried to open the link to the photo you posted, my virus protection blocked it as a “threat” so I haven’t seen the photo.

Do you have any other symptoms at all other than the coating on your tongue? If the Nystatin helped at all then this is probably some sort of yeast problem at the very least. But the Nystatin alone is not capable of making any substantial strides towards a symptom-free state.

If you’d like to follow the treatment that most of the forum is using, the links are below.

You need to reduce the candida numbers internally before you notice any improvement. The thrush likely will come and go throughout your treatment and plan on a 6-18 month recovery period to get over this.

If you try out oil pulling, this can reduce the amount in the mouth.

Here are some pictures I just took. The back of the tongue, where I can’t reach with a toothbrush, is more heavily coated. Yes, the white tongue is the only symptom I have or have had. I work full time, but am more than willing to go through a tough diet to sort this out. I’ve had it since November 2012.

I’ve learned a lot just reading through some of the links you provided Able, thanks. Any comments regarding the pictures? Thanks!

That’s what I figured. My doctor says I shouldn’t be concerned and it is not a big issue, but it is something I am going to resolve.

Raster, what would your recommendation be for me to get through this?

Would it be a Cleanse, followed by following “The Stricter Candida Diet” which I private message Able to obtain? From what I’ve been reading and looking at on the forum, this seems to be what I am going to do.

I did a search on oil pulling. Correct me if I’m wrong. Oil pulling with coconut oil, because it has antifungal properties, will fight off overgrowth of yeast in my mouth. More of a temporary fix, rather than actually reducing the candida numbers internally. Is oil pulling something I can do my entire cleanse, and diet?

For a few weeks, I gargled salt water, and it helped a little. To me oil pullling is doing the same thing, but in general, would you say it is more effective than salt water?

Also, on the ALLOWED FOODS: Candida Diet page, there is writing in red lettering that talks about how shifting back to the old diet will likely cause another candida infestation, perhaps an even more serious infestation. When I first noticed my white tongue, I had recently finished 10 days of antibiotics as well as eating high sugar foods for a few days. (Bad timing. I was eating high sugar foods, donuts, and had a few beers. Pretend I go through a cleanse and follow the diet spot on, if I start to reintroduce foods and drinks, for example have 4 or 5 beer, is my tongue going to become white again?

As I was writing this, my mom brought home some CandiGone she got at the health store. Any comments about CandiGone, or if I should use it during my cleanse or diet? Apparantly the lady at the health store had concerns about the cleanse described on the website because it lacks protein. Comments?

    Thanks for the help!

That doesn’t look too bad, mine is noticibly worse but that is most likely yeast. Take care of it before you end up like most of us on this site

I’m not Raster, but I’ll answer this for you anyway; the coating on your tongue does look very mild, and if this is the only symptom you have, then it could be just a mild yeast problem.

Would it be a Cleanse, followed by following “The Stricter Candida Diet” which I private message Able to obtain? From what I’ve been reading and looking at on the forum, this seems to be what I am going to do.

I sent the links to you in a private message. Personally, I don’t think a cleanse is necessary, especially in your case. It could be that simply going on the diet I sent you and using an antifungal for about ten days, then starting a good probiotic may be all you need to clear this up. It’s certain worth a try.

You can do oil-pulling throughout the diet, but as I’ve stated, I don’t think the cleanse is necessary, of course if you want to do a cleanse, go ahead. As long as you’re not already underweight, the cleanse probably won’t bother you other than making you weak, which may be a problem for you. The coconut oil kills the Candida in your intestines if you take it by mouth.

For a few weeks, I gargled salt water, and it helped a little. To me oil pullling is doing the same thing, but in general, would you say it is more effective than salt water?

A lot more effective, it’s a natural antifungal. Since you already have the coconut oil, you could use that as your antifungal and not bother with purchasing another one. And you need to take coconut oil by the teaspoonful. The doses are in the protocol.

No one can successfully predict this for you, there are far too many varieancies depending on each individual.

As I was writing this, my mom brought home some CandiGone she got at the health store. Any comments about CandiGone, or if I should use it during my cleanse or diet? Apparantly the lady at the health store had concerns about the cleanse described on the website because it lacks protein. Comments?

I sent you a link to another cleanse, you should read that information if you’re still interested in doing a cleanse.

The CandiGone problebly won’t hurt anything, and since you ‘appear’ to have a mild case of yeast at the most, it may help. You can use the CandiGone along with the diet I sent.

The cleanse and diet won’t cure your infestation; the supplements are the x-factor. Probiotics, prebiotics, antifungals, vitamins, minerals, and lifestyle are the major factors in overcoming candida overgrowth. Some people have a light infection that goes away easily while others have a more persistant one. You are lucky things aren’t worse and that you aren’t allergic to everything you eat like I was.

I predict a rather quick recovery for you…

Thanks for the help so far. I’m learning more and more everytime I read through all of this information you have provided.

I had a look through the Stricter Diet you sent me. I will listen to your advice and ignore the cleanse. Question 1 So just to be clear Able, you think I should stick to that diet, for roughly 10 days, while using an antifungal right from the beginning?

I am likely going to choose coconut oil as my antifungal, as it seems from reading this forum, that is the right choice.

Also, just to be clear, Question 2 I can do oil pulling with coconut oil AND use coconut oil as an antifungal and ingest it using the doses outlined on the ANTIFUNGALSL: Correct Doses page?

Question 3 Should I be concerned about Die-Off? Or is my case mild enough where I won’t need Molybdenum? Could I get by with Vitamin C and soaking in hot water? Would doing a Liver Flush drink once a day be enough?

That’s all the questions I have, for now. I’m sure I will have some more coming up. Thanks Able and Raster, your help is very appreciated.

    To answer your questions:

1)Yes, I would do this and not start antifungals right away.

2)You can use coconut oil in both ways; you can use pretty much any oil for oil pulling and you are supposed to consume multiple spoonfuls of coconut oil per day.S

3)I would be concerned about die-off because if you don’t protect your liver and kidneys, then you will have to heal these at a later time (as in my case). Vitamin C is good for die-off but it doesn’t work as well as MAAC (molybdenum amino acid chelate). The liver flush doesn’t protect your organs, it just flushes out the toxins.

I personally didn’t have oral thrush super bad but maybe had it at your levels or so. Despite this, I still had a severe overgrowth and still am recovering after 1.5 years on the diet and my personal protocol. Some people have heavy metal toxicity (like me) and this needs to be addressed seperately.

    Thanks for your reply raster,

I probably will wait another day or two until I resume taking a teaspoon of coconut oil every day.

I live in Canada, is finding MACC going to be difficult?

In regards to vitamins, the protocol says to add vitamins around the second to third week if you are already not having them. I am currently not taking any vitamins. I assume it will be okay for me to begin taking vitamin C now?

raster, I take it that you had symptoms other than just oral thrush to realize that you had severe overgrowth?

    That’s all for now, thanks

Question 1 So just to be clear Able, you think I should stick to that diet, for roughly 10 days, while using an antifungal right from the beginning?

Correct. But you don’t want to decide exactly what to do at that time until you see the results of the next seven days.

I am likely going to choose coconut oil as my antifungal, as it seems from reading this forum, that is the right choice.

I agree with you on the coconut oil.

Also, just to be clear, Question 2 I can do oil pulling with coconut oil AND use coconut oil as an antifungal and ingest it using the doses outlined on the ANTIFUNGALSL: Correct Doses page?

Yes, that’s correct. Just don’t swallow what you use for oil-pulling.

Question 3 Should I be concerned about Die-Off? Or is my case mild enough where I won’t need Molybdenum? Could I get by with Vitamin C and soaking in hot water? Would doing a Liver Flush drink once a day be enough?I live in Canada, is finding MACC going to be difficult?

In your case, I would try to find the Milk Thistle herb in capsule form instead. This will not only protect your liver, but heal any damage that may have already taken place. Three days have already lapsed since you started the diet, and apparently you haven’t experienced die-off yet or I assume you would have mentioned it, so maybe you’re not going to or maybe you will later when you start the coconut oil. At any rate, I don’t know if you can obtain molybdenum in Candida or not, so be sure to do all the other things you can do to prevent the die-off toxins from being too bad. The liver flush is good once or twice a day in your case.Treating Die-Off without Molybdenum

In regards to vitamins, the protocol says to add vitamins around the second to third week if you are already not having them. I am currently not taking any vitamins. I assume it will be okay for me to begin taking vitamin C now?

Yes, most definitely, in fact you should have started it the first day.

Thank you Able and raster. I am extremely grateful that you both are not only knowledgeable, but also willing to help others with this.

I’m now midway through my fourth day of Able’s strict diet. I took a teaspoon of coconut oil yesterday, had seven or eight brusell sprouts, and have also beed doing oil pulling a few times a day. I am using CandiGone. I took Able’s advice and started taking Milk Thistle, Vitamin C, and the liver flush drink.

My tongue is already pink on the front, though there is still a white coating on the back. When I wake up in the morning there is a slight white coating towards the front, but not as much as there was previously.

    Questions:

1 When does die off normally begin? Will die off happen without antifungals and just a strict diet? If I have not had any symptoms of die off since I began. Is it likely that I won’t get it at all? Given that I have a more mild case of oral thrush? I haven’t felt bad at all, minus being a little low on energy.

2 I’m not entirely clear on some of the stuff regarding Vitamins, and I didn’t read through it close enough before I started. Correct me if I’m wrong, but should I begin to start taking Vitamins A, D, D3, Apo-Lactoferrin, Biotin, and Vitamin E?

3 I think I have the prebiotics and probiotics figured out for now. Just to be clear, should I begin taking prebiotics now and wait until I’m done antifungals to start taking probiotics? This brings me to my next question, if I don’t experince Die-off, how am I supposed to know when to start taking probiotics? Should I just gauge how well the antifungals are working but starting probiotics when the back of my tongue becomes pink?

    Comments are greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

No one can really predict die-off symptom or when they’ll begin, Brit. But since you have a fairly light case of yeast/possible Candida, you may never experience it, but then again, it can start at any time during the treatment depending on the size of the infestation as well as the diet and supplements you’re on.

I would start one of these every day instead of all at one time. The biotin often produces some die-off effects. You should probably read the vitamin post again before starting any of these.

In your case, I would stay on the antifungals for two weeks, then stop all except the coconut oil and start the probiotics the day after stopping all other antifungals. Meanwhile, remain on the strict diet through all the changes.

    Able
