I thought it would be best to keep an ongoing food diary here. If any experienced members care to put me back on track if I’m going wrong, that’d be really appreciated.

First off, a bit about myself. I’m 30 years old, underweight, and I believe that I may have been affected by candida for over 10 years. In my late teens I had thrush and a couple of years later I was diagnosed with IBS. Though I questioned the connection, it was never looked into.

My diet was previously very high in meat, fats, dairy, caffeine, carbohydrates and sugars, as well as eating fruit and vegetables. And I drank and smoked for nearly 10 years. Over the last few years my diet’s come around. I don’t eat any refined or processed foods, and rarely any sugars. I drink and smoke occasionally. If candida is not the root to my problems, then I believe it could be my liver.

At times my diet has consisted of only vegetables, and I’ve felt very clear and positive. I’ll do whatever it takes to get back to being healthy, and as quickly as possible. I’m not sure if I’ll experience strong die-off symptoms on this diet as this won’t be a major change to my recent diet, but we’ll see. I’ll be starting the Proper & Safe Cleanse straight away:

1st question. If you’re reading Able, perhaps you could answer this. I’d like to do this diet as strictly as possible so that there’s no confusion.

    – On the 2 week detox, should I be eating only vegetables (no herbs, oils etc), and should these vegetables only be green vegetables?

    Hello, Vinci.

If you think you have liver problems already, you certainly don’t want the aldehyde toxins expelled by the Candida settling in your liver. I would suggest, for your own safety. that you not start the cleanse until you’ve been taking Molybdenum Amino Acid Chelate for three straight days prior to starting the cleanse or the diet.

You can add a bit of extra virgin olive oil when you cook the vegetables, that’s what I would do at least.

I’ve been in and out of similar detoxes for quite a while. It usually results with a niggling pain in my very lower back area*, especially exaggerated after eating nuts. I’m making an educated guess that I may have liver problems, due to my past lifestyle and problems. I’m not sure. I drink gallons of water during it too.

I’ve been eating only raw vegetables for the last couple of days, and I feel I need to carry it on as I don’t know of many things that I can eat which make me feel good. I’m ordering some milk thistle online now: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Milk-Thistle-5600mg-tablets-Guarantee/dp/B003F3D7P4/ref=pd_cp_d_1. Would this be enough or would you also recommend Molybdenum Amino Acid Chelate (any specific brand?)? I could pop into my small local health store tomorrow and pick something up if it’s not too rare to find ..it might be wiser to pick the milk thistle up there.

    – From the vegetable list, was it only green vegetables, or any vegetable off of that list?

    – Do you recommend drinking white tea (herbal) during the detox phase?

*Edit: or perhaps the lower back area would symbolise the kidneys. I’m not sure.

Personally, I wouldn’t have been without Molybdenum during the treatment. I felt better physically after adding it to my regimen, plus I felt much safer knowing that the toxins were being cleared out.

    Where are you located?

Green vegetables are preferable during the cleanse.

    – Do you recommend drinking white tea (herbal) during the detox phase?

Not especially, I would prefer strictly water and water with lemon juice for detoxing myself.

or perhaps the lower back area would symbolise the kidneys.

Very possible considering that toxins aggravate the kidney as well as the liver.

I’ll order some Molybdenum online then. I live in the UK, out in the countryside.

Thanks so much for your advise. I was beginning to feel too trapped.

Also, do you know of any problem with me adding B-complex vitamins in at this stage?

Update: I can’t seem to find Molybdenum Amino Acid Chelate online in the UK. Are any of these correct, and best?

Update 13.04.12: Ok, I ordered ths one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Molybdenum-100-x-250mcg-Tablets/dp/B004UMQ2Q0/ref=pd_sim_sbs_d_1. Going to buy some milk thistle today too. I might also get some swedish bitters.

    Diet 12.04.12:

    – raw: cauliflower, cabbage, red+orange peppers, avocado, parsley, lemon, water

I’ll turn it into a green vegetable diet only. So no peppers because of the sugar (maybe green pepper is ok?). No avocado or herbs. If I have tea, I’ll have one of the detox teas:
    http://voices.yahoo.com/the-top-detox-teas-using-herbal-teas-during-detoxification-122194.html?cat=5
    http://www.thecandidadiet.com/forum/yaf_postst2981_DieOff-Without-Molybdenum.aspx

    Symptoms 13.04.12:

    – Woke up feeling very dehydrated (despite loads of water the day before)
    – Foggy head
    – Lower back and side niggles
    – Achy muscles
    – Fuzzy mouth
    – Off coloured layer on tongue
    – Blocked nose + mucousy throat
    – Low energy
    – Nauseous after drinking lemon in the morning (haven’t had this in a while)

The more I read about candida, the more my symptoms make sense. Similar symptoms have been on and off like this for a very long time. It seems like I’ve been going in and out of die-off without understanding it.

    Hi Vinci,

I’m in the UK too. On the advice of my nutritionist, who specialises in candida, I use the brands Biocare (caprylic acid), Biohealth (for my milk thitle), and Lamberts (vitamin c). I bought the same Molybdenum as you. I also use oil of oregano from Higher Nature, and organic virgin coconut oil, by Biona Organics (you should be able to get this from a healthfood shop, probably not somewhere like Holland and Barretts!). I take more pills than the ones listed, but they are tailored for me so I won’t give you those.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Ruth,

Thanks for the tips there. I bought some Herbal Authority – Silymarin Milk Thistle 500mg from Holland and Barrett. The ingredients are Vegetable Glycerine, Silymarin Milk Thistle extract, Purified Water, Colouring (Caramel), Contains (or contains an ingredient/s derived from) soya and sulphates. I’m not sure if I should be looking for pure milk thistle or if there’s anything problematic in the ingredients. – http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=264&prodid=303&cid=35&sid=0

Did you have any noticeable effects with the Molybdenum? And which of these supplements were you recommended to take in the early stages of your course ..or was it all of them?

Important question here. Would the following symptoms indicate candida growth or die off symptoms if experienced soon after consumption: bloated, itchy anus, itchy roof of mouth?

The flare up happened soon after drinking extra virgin olive oil (2 tspns), 1 x lemon and natural sea salt (1 tbspn).

More than likely the symptoms were from the detoxing effect caused by these three ingredients since they all contain detoxing properties.

The ingredients on the milk thistle look questionable to me! I go for milk thistle, biohealth. Not started on the molybdenum yet as just ordered it recently, but they are out of stock, and it’s discontinued, so I’ll find a different one, maybe by the make solgar or country life.

Also, I take all of them throughout, and will continue to do so for a while. Even when better I think it’s important to take a good multi vit (not a cheap one!) and 1000mg vit C a day as we just can’t get all the nutrients today, given the environments we live in.

    Hey guys,

I’m in the UK too. Would you recommend your nutritionist? I’m seeing a homeopath and she’s fantastic but doesn’t specialise in Candida so I’d be interested in talking to someone who does and who can recommend UK products.

    Thanks
