Hi there! First, I am so confused. I came to the site thinking I had a plan all set. Then, I come to this forum and you guys say not to do some of the stuff that’s on the site. Are you not the site owners? The conflicting information is so confusing. I thought I was doing everything correctly by following the sites instructions, but now I’m not so sure. I see you even have a different protocol on the forum than on The Candida Diet’s site. Thus, my confusion! 🙂 I hope I’m not doing anything wrong.
My main question…I’ve been doing the detox drink using liquid bentonite clay and a couple of fiber pills that include psyllium powder, oat bran and apple pectin powder twice a day. I’ve also been drinking the vegetable broth throughout the day, supplementing my diet with raw and grilled vegetables and lots of salads with apple cider vinegar and olive oil for the dressing. I’m also drinking a lot of lemon water throughout the day. My problem lies in that I’ve become somewhat constipated. Normally, I would have two bowel movements a day – I’ve never had a problem going. Now, since increasing my fiber intake by pills and a substantially larger amount of vegetables than I normally eat, I’m only going once a day. I know being constipated while trying to get rid of the candida is a bad thing.
I did read among the many posts about drinking a tablespoon of olive oil (at night, I think) but can’t find where that post was.
I’m trying to figure out the reason for my going less and what some remedies may be.
Also, I just started my anti-fungals, so I should stop the fiber and bentonite, right? Then, in a week, start the probiotics? Of course, I think I got this information from the site, not your protocol so this is what’s stuck in my head. I also bought Candida Clear from NOW because I’ve used it in the past and it’s worked really, really good for me. Sounds like you guys don’t approve of it, though. Should I add in the coconut oil?
Sorry for all the questions and my confusion. Thank you for taking the time to read and answer them. I truly appreciate it!!June 8, 2012 at 2:19 am #84218

I don’t think fibre supplements are helpful, especially in those quantities. You’ll get more than enough from vegetables. In fact, if you haven’t eaten many vegetables before now, even that amount of fibre will take some adjustment.
If you think there are other reasons, or want to avoid pitfalls from now, try reading this article: Causes and Cures for ConstipationJune 11, 2012 at 2:06 am #84373

Personally I’ve found that too much fiber can only make things worse. I was severely constipated for two weeks and am only now starting to get things going. I’ve read that increasing the fat intake would be benefitial and have been now making sure that I eat fats with every meal instead of obsessing over getting enough fiber (as I used to). Seems to work.
One thing that has helped me in the past is drinking 2 Tbsp olive oil with half a lemon juice first thing in the morning. Then wait at least 20 minutes before eating anything. This is supposed to increase the bile production which then promotes bowel movements. I am not sure you should do this in the long term though; the doctor who recommended it only advised to use this for a week as part of a detox program.
