You know, I am betting that many of us do not get regular, rejuvenating sleep during the night. Sleep is one of the very basic building blocks of health. Without it the body cannot function well.

Additionally, poor sleep can contribute to chronic pain, memory loss, lack of focus, depression, poor immunity, hormone imbalances, stomach symptoms, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and chronic fatigue.

8 simple recommendations to improve the quality of your sleep:
    1. Sleep only at night
    2. Sleep 8-10 hours a night
    3. Avoid daytime naps
    4. Keep a strict sleep schedule
    5. Make sure your bed is most comfortable
    6. De-stress: Go for walks in nature, meditate
    7. Stay away from stimulating products such as caffeine
    8. If you snore, have difficulty breathing while sleeping, or, think you might have an airway issue that is impeding quality sleep I suggest that you see a sleep specialist.

For an interesting study on sleep and its relationship to chronic pain check out this journal article: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19560866

I think that is a wise choice. Night shift workers can get, “Shift work disorder” Let us know how it goes, ie your sleep!
