We have purchased a 1 lb. container of Now Foods Organic Spirulina Powder and are wondering how much and how best to serve it. Should we blend it into foods, dissolve in water, mix into smoothies, etc.?? The same question for Bob’s Red Mill Hemp Protein Powder. What amounts are recommended?

For the next week, we are simply focused on alleviating toxins that built up from 6 weeks use of Can-Sol without die-off relieving agents. Once she regains some strength, we would like to resume the cleanse: how effective would it be to add Spirulina and Can-Sol to Nettle Leaf Tea? If advisable, how much and how often should it be administered?

Thank you to everyone here for your informative advice and support.

I don’t know what to tell you about serving size, but a couple of things: Spirulina can cause die-off, so tread carefully with that until her die-off support is firmly established. Hemp has a really hearty, earthy flavor, so it’d be good blended into soups or hot cereal.

I put hemp powder in my cereal every morning and I love it! I’m hooked on hemp.

You don’t have to go back on the cleanse because it won’t even come close to curing an infestation.

    Hello, Patti.
How is your sister doing at this point? I know how busy you are with her, but if you have time, please let us know if she’s made any improvements at all. Thanks

I don’t believe I would give her the spirulina and Can-Sol during the same period of time; this is a large amount of strong antifungal properties for her to handle all at one time, especially when you’re trying to get the toxins out.

The more nutrients and proteins she receives the better off she’ll be, so definitely use the spirulina and hemp powder for proteins during this time.

Start out with extremely low amounts of spirulina in order to prevent too many of the die-off toxins being produced in her body too quickly.

Do the same thing with the hemp powder because, remember that she can react to literally any new food or supplement, so when I write small amounts I’m talking about perhaps no more than a teaspoon the first day, then workup to the ultimate amount by one teaspoon a day.

As far as the amounts of both spirulina and hemp powder are concerned; these are high protein sources, so especially in her case you should use close to the amount of protein a day that her body size would indicate. Give me her weight, and I’ll see if I can come up with an amount that’s at least close to the exact number of grams she needs.

Able, thank you for your concern – she is slowly beginning to improve both physically and emotionally. She is no longer in a “deep, dark place”, as she would say. Increasing her anti-depressant and adding Molybdenum (every 6 hrs.) and Candidate w/Dandelion Root tea (twice daily) has helped to relieve toxins from her system and she is able to get out of bed for several hours at a time. We have dramatically improved her diet as well, serving meals only from the Allowed Foods List. We will add NOW Fiber-3 Powder w/Bentonite in a few days when it arrives, along with ColoFlush for constipation and the aforementioned Hemp Powder and Spirulina. We will take care to introduce each product one-by-one to gauge for possible reactions. She is also taking 3000mg of Vitamin C, two Ultimate Flora 80-14, two Milk Thistle Extract, and four Triphala throughout the day (constipation is a major issue – I understand Hemp Power may help with this).

In our previous posts we failed to mention that she suffers from degenerative disk disease and has been prescribed opiates for over three years to cope with the pain. She suspects that these meds have contributed to her Candida and so has dramatically decreased her dosage of Morphine, specifically. We attribute her irritability to withdrawal, however she is also extremely sensitive to sound and is having a difficult time sleeping due to it.

As for her weight, she is currently at 185 lbs. – she has lost 20 lbs. in the last few weeks. We feel she needs at least another seven days before we reintroduce anti-fungals, but would like to know how much Spirulina to introduce when the time comes. As for the Hemp Powder we feel the sooner, the better – her protein coming only from fish and organic eggs & chicken right now.

I’d just like to add that a number of anti-depressants, specifically SSRIs, have strong antifungal properties. I’m not saying you should do anything about it, but its just something to be aware of.

That’s really great news, thanks so much for posting this.

Unfortunately, severe constipation can be symptoms of both a Candida overgrowth as well as in response to the die-off toxins. If all else fails, taking 1000 mg of vitamin C every 45 minutes will usually relieve constipation. It using causes diarrhea but can be stopped by simply stopping the intake of the vitamin C. the diarrhea is simply one way that the body gets rid of excess vitamin C. As you see by this, vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin, therefore no one can really overdose in the under the normal description of the word since the body is able to get rid of it.

Considering your sister’s life style, .36 grams of protein per pound of body weight would be needed. Let’s round that number off to 65 grams of protein. Considering her lack of activity, but also the fact that she’s recuperating from an illness, I would think that obtaining around 65-70 grams of protein a day would be sufficient. Check the protein amount per serving on the hemp container, and try to work around that information in connection with the other protein foods she has in a day’s time.

Please keep us posted as to her condition as you have time.
