I’ve been reading the forum for a while (and finding very useful information here!), but this is the first time I write.
I have many symptoms of candida (brain fog, anxiety, depression, lots of intestinal issues, recurrent thrush infections, etc). Based on those symptoms, my ND recommended I start a strict candida diet and take antifungals.
I first took Candida Clear for 2 weeks. Because this product contains several antifungals, which may increase the chances of developing resistance, my ND then told me to start alternating a product that contains only caprylic acid with oil of oregano, alternating between the two every two weeks.
For the first two weeks on Candida Clear I felt great. The brain fog and anxiety lifted, and I felt better than I had in years. The next 2 weeks on caprylic acid I still felt good bout not as great. The oil of oregano didn’t seem to do anything for me, and slowly the brain fog started to creep back in.
As soon as I started the antifungals I began to have very loose stools, and my bowels got irritated. I started feeling something like a cramp (it was very weird, as if something was tickling from the inside) on the left side of the abdomen. I got worried that my colon may have gotten inflamed, and the ND recommended I stop the antifungals for a while.
I did so, brain fog and anxiety came back, I felt terrible for 3 weeks.
Then I visited my ob/gyn for a yearly check up and the pap test results indicated I had a yeast infection. He prescribed one 125mg dose of fluconazole. The fluconazole triggered some side effects (die off?), but the brain fog lifted slightly, so I was feeling good again. I decided to take the chance to go back to the natural route. I took 2pills (one dose) of Candida Clear yesterday and I felt great (mood and brain fog wise), but the weird feeling on the left side of the abdomen returned.
Ok, sorry for the long email. These are my questions:
* The fact that the Candida Clear, which has ingredients that are antifungal, antibacterial and antiparasitic works better than caprylic acid, oil of oregano or fluconazole alone makes me suspect that I may have something else beyond candida. Does this make sense?
* Any ideas on what may be triggering the pain/cramp/tickly feeling on the left side of the abdomen, right below the rib cage? I’m getting a bit worried about that.
Thank you so much to everybody in the forum, I’ve learnt so much from you since I started my candida journey.
