Just bought a bunch of anti-candida stuff online and one of the products is oral drops that contain candida themselves. I couldn’t find much info online. The only thing that I found was that these type of products are supposed to stimulate the body towards desensitization. I feel nervous about taking this as it contains candida and a bunch of other stuff. Need advice. This is the product: http://www.iherb.com/NatraBio-Candida-Yeast-1-fl-oz-30-ml/45179

This is a homeopathics product. It contains very very low amounts of the actual original substance, something like 1/50th of a drop or something per bottle.

I’ve taken another homeopathic called pleo ex that contains candida strains (at diluted levels) and it worked very well for me. It is now banned in the US due to the FDA.

Thanks for the quick reply, raster. I still don’t get how this would work to fight candida. As far as I understood the idea behind it is that taking small amounts of these bacteria would activate an immune response in your body to fight them off?

Homeopathics are the first type of medicine that was created (before western medicine). They work on different principles:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeopathy

“The low concentration of homeopathic remedies, which often lack even a single molecule of the diluted substance, has been the basis of questions about the effects of the remedies since the 19th century. Modern advocates of homeopathy have proposed a concept of “water memory”, according to which water “remembers” the substances mixed in it, and transmits the effect of those substances when consumed.”

So basically homeopathics instruct your body to do certain things and activate parts of its immune system.

As far as whether your product will work or not or is the best homeopathic candida supplement, that is likely debatable. I know that the pleo company is high quality because I’ve tried out some of their other homeopathics and they work well. But they got too popular and marketed too much and so the fda cracked down on them. You can still get it in europe though…

Your product did contain other herbs and these will do other things…

Actually, homeopathics is quite modern. It was invented by Samuel Hahnemann at around the year 1800.

No. The concept of “water memory” was invented by the believers in classical homeopathy to explain why their system should work. This explanation has since been discredited. One can therefore not conclude that homeopathics “instruct your body” to do anything.

The concept of “water memory” is purely hypothetical. It has no basis in theory. One may of course argue that the current state of theory may be incomplete, but then one can experiment. Such experiments have never given any hint that this “water memory” exists.

This turns out to be the reason why some homeopathics do work. Not through this magical “water memory”, but through herbs in measurable quantities.

    Hi, Raster:

Now that Pleo Ex has been recalled, can you recommend any other anti-candida homeopathic product/company?

No I can’t right now because I haven’t tried anything else. Pleo ex might be available sometime soon if the fda allows it. My ND has some products that replace it but I haven’t seen or tried them yet. Yisucks knows what these are so maybe she can chime in if she sees this post.
