This may be a bit long but i hope to god someone that knows theyre stuff takes the time to read this! Ill be as detailed as i can…

Before christmas (about 5months ago in fact) i RECEIVED oral sex from the same person on 4 occasions, never had sex nor did i perform oral sex on her! Shortly afterwards i got a rash on my penis that started out as a very small rash around the ‘eye’ of the penis and gradually spread almost covering the whole head, the foreskin also was red and inflammed it seemed AND i appeared to have discharge and an itchy rectum also!

Upon visiting the doctor i was diagnosed with thrush and recommended i have a full std screening (which i did, everything was clear) i was given a cream for the thrush which initially cleared the rash but returned a day or two after i stopped using the cream! Upon revisiting the doctor i was given more cream and one dose of fluconazole 150mg to take, again the rash cleared but shortly afterwards returned!! At this point i was advised to go to the std clinic to be retested for stds, again everything was clear! The rash wasnt present at the time but i did show the doctor pictures and she commented “it looks thrushy” she recommended i use a saline wash, that was it!!

In the mean time i had been in contact with the girl i believe passed this to me and she was seeing her own doctor for answers (despite her NOT having any symptoms) She got nowhere until she ended up in hospital with anemia and was later diagnosed with thrush (oral hyper plastic candida)

When i got hold of this information i naturally thought well why the hell isnt treatment working, this must be thrush, I went back to the doctor to try and convince him i had thrush but had no idea why it wasnt responding to treatment and he suggested that maybe i needed a longer prescription of fluconazole, he gave me 6 in total, one 150mg to be taken once a week, Well again the rash cleared but the day after i took the 5th dose, back it came!! He assured me and these were his words “if it doesnt clear this time then its not thrush” I went out to the std clinic and asked the doctor to take a look this time seen as the rash was present, She had a look and told me she didnt think it was thrush because the area where the head of the penis ends is usually covered and that area was fine and therefore she believed it wasnt thrush but an “irritant” which i dont believe because i have many other symptoms apart from the rash, I was handed a tub of silcocks base and sent on my way!

What the hell is going on???

Other symptoms include : ITCHY RECTUM, ITCHY EARS, FATIGUE AND MY ALLERGIES ARE DEF AT ME ALOT SINCE THIS ALL BEGAN WHICH I FIND ODD, I SEEM TO BLOW ALOT OF FLUID FROM MY NOSE EVERY MORNING!!

Addition information : I began training shortly before i met this person i speak of, and i do NOT shower immediately after training, i often wait until later in the day before iam going out! However, iam eating healthier then ever and i have taken hi potency probiotics while being treated aswell as drinking yakult and eating some probiotic yogurts!

N.B When i took the fluconazole second time around, the rash got worse before clearing, i also started getting strange ‘beating’ sensations in my left ear in particular and i feel theres alot of wax in my ears since this began!

Also the girl i speak of is having difficulty and was recently put on a liquid diet and stronger drugs in order to try clear herself!

At the moment iam in the dark because iam basically being told i dont have thrush now and that all thats left is to see a dermatologist but i will have to wait close to a year to see one for some reason although this is normal in ireland!!

Where do i go from here? Do you think this IS thrush or something else? and why the hell cant they test and confirm wether its thrush or not? The only tests done have been std tests!!

Ever so greatful to anyone thats taken the time to read this and respond, i appreciate it!!

    Hello,

I’m sorry to hear about your frustrations. I don’t have the answers, I wish I did, because something similar happened to me a decade ago and I believe it was the start of my Candida.

I had persistent yeast infections, and I went to about 13 different doctors. Every single doctor said I didn’t have a yeast infection, that my test looked good.

Makes me wonder if the yeast/thrush isn’t showing up on the test for a reason related to candida.

anyone else have a similar story?

In the mean time you should consider going on the diet & protocol to see if it clears up your thrush.

Thats what bothers me the most, i havent been offered any kind of test to confirm wether or not its thrush, The girl i was with however has been tested and is now on treatment and a liquid diet after her first lot of treatment failed to improve the situation!! Shes being monitored every week to make sure its clearing and i have had NOTHING, i was checked for stds and thats it, i was given fluconazole after explaining the girl i was with was diagnosed with thrush and i was simple told “if this dont work, you dont have thrush”

    Thanks for your input btw

This is the disadvantage of being a man, I was in and out of the doctors office for a year with what I knew was, a torn muscle in my shoulder. Now I don’t mean a sore shoulder, I mean a ruptured tendon.

He told me it was all in my head and to just relax, I was apparently too strong to have anything wrong with me.

So I had to go and pay for my own MRI scans, despite my taxes paying for the fucking national health service, cost me a clean fortune! Anyway he got some shock when I turned up at his office with my mri scan report showing my bicep muscle had torn of the bone…..fucking shithead!

At least we can piss standing up lad, its the only advantage of being a man.

It sounds like the medical system is not helping you and this is what has occurred to nearly every forum member; spend a bunch of money and get no diagnosis or help even though you know you have a health problem!

In order to get a positive diagnosis for candida, you need to do the candida immune complex test with genova diagnostics. There likely is a place in the UK that does this as well. If you cannot do this test, you should get tested to see if you are allergic to candida. If you are allergic to it, then this explains everything…

As far as how to treat your penile thrush woes; my naturopath feels that everyone who has candida on their genitals has candida in their kidneys, so this is what you may have to heal…

Additionally, have you tried fluconazole with the strict diet? If you are eating a regular western diet, the drugs won’t do shit imho…

I think when you have oral thrush they can do a culture for yeast, the same with a women because we have “discharge” with yeast. I think perhaps if you just have a rash and no discharge, there is nothing to culture.

I had this same problem with my lips. I had angular chelitis (which is caused by yeast), severe cracks in the corners of my mouth. But then I also had a lip rash that would cause my lips to swell and burn. When I asked if they could test my lips for yeast, they said that there was nothing they could culture and that they could do a punch biopsy. They tried to tell me that it couldn’t possibly be yeast. Idiots. Strangely, once I went on this diet and started doing antifungals, it started getting better….

Another little piece of advice my acupuncturist gave me, don’t wash with regular soap down there. Regular soaps have anti-bacterials in them that f#@k everything up with your flora and fauna so to speak. Find yourself some nice no-scent plain glycerin soap for after your workouts.

    Good luck!

I spoke with my doctor this evening and he feels theyre is nothing more they can do for me, i have been treated for thrush and he said i now may have to have a biopsy but i have to see a dermatologist for this which may take up to 12months, Maybe sooner if i go private!!

I never considered an allergy to yeast , that would explain alot actually!!

Do you guys think my symptoms match thrush??

Check out this candida symptoms list:

    http://www.thecandidadiet.com/forum/yaf_postst6305_100-candida-symptoms-list.aspx

I would consider not going the western medicine route and go via the alternative which is naturopathic medicine.

There are specialists that know a ton about candida but they are hard to find in general.

If you want to educate yourself more about candida, I’d check out dr. mcoombs:

If it were me becks, this is what I would do. I would go ahead and get yourself on the list to see a dermatolgist. I don’t know how it works there, but sometimes if there are cancellations here, they can get you in sooner. If you are still having problems that far ahead in the future, you may be glad you have the appointment.

In the meantime, do what I did and go on the diet, just to see if it helps. I have an appt. with another university dermatologist for allergies in the future, but the diet seems to be helping. I am going to leave the appointment on my calendar until I am sure that what I have is either cured or under control.

It is taking a long time for the completely healing but my lips are a LOT better. They no longer swell and constantly burn. They are still sensitive but not nearly as bad as they were. I say go on the diet for a couple of months and see… Just my advice. Good luck dear.
