Hi i’m on day two of the detox stage and although i am sticking it with for now drinking the bland broth throughout the day has left me feeling pretty fed up and for some reason today i found myself watching cookery programmes! So this has left me really looking forward to starting on the Stage 1 Diet.

There are a few products i’ve been hoping i will be able to eat when i get to stage 1 and although i have read through a lot of posts on the forum and read the allowed/not allowed food lists i haven’t been able to find them, i’m sorry if i have missed them somewhere but i was hoping someone would be able to tell me if these are allowed?

    Beansprouts?

    Bulgar Wheat?

    Panko?

Tinned Tuna in Olive Oil (or any tuna?)

Also are Roast Vegetables allowed on Stage 0, things like Courgette or Aubergine (Zucchini or Eggplant for anyone not in the UK) rather than just steaming them or eating them raw?

Are Chives allowed as a herb?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated, and thankyou so much to all of you who spend your time on here helping us out and answering our questions, you are an inspiration to us starting out on the treatment.

    Thanks Michelle

    Beansprouts?

You can eat these during the first stage.

    Bulgar Wheat?

I’m afraid not at all on stage 1 or 2. You really shouldn’t eat any type of wheat product including whole wheat as it feeds the Candida. Your goal is to avoid all foods that can feed the Candida, otherwise, you’ll just be killing and feeding and killing and feeding in cycles…. do you see the point?

    Panko?

Unless I’m mistaken, this is nothing but bread crumbs? If so, then no, it’ll just feed the Candida.

Tinned Tuna in Olive Oil (or any tuna?)

You could add tuna after the cleanse actually, maybe once or twice a week alternating with chicken for a total of around three times a week would be safe, unless you have reactions.
Always watch for reactions of any type when you add a new food and eat only a very small amount to start with.

Also are Roast Vegetables allowed on Stage 0, things like Courgette or Aubergine (Zucchini or Eggplant for anyone not in the UK) rather than just steaming them or eating them raw?

Roasting any of the vegetables on the list is a perfect idea.

Are Chives allowed as a herb?

    Yes

The post below has a few more details about the diet.

Thanks so much for your reply Able, it’s great to know i will be able to eat some of those foods when i reach Stage 1.

As for the bulgar wheat, i wasn’t sure about how different it would be to the buck wheat on the allowed food list so thought i would ask, but i’ve since had a read on the internet and now understand why it’s a no no!

I’ve thought of a few other things if you can tell me if they are allowed?

    Cous Cous?

I’m so glad i will be able to eat tuna and i see sardines and wild salmon are allowed to, i was just wondering if pilchards are allowed?

One thing i think i will really miss is breakfast cereal, i see we are allowed oat bran but i was wondering if you know of or can recommend any cereal type foods that are allowed, or are they all annoyingly full of sugar!!

Sorry one more question i’ve thought of are they any kind of wraps that are ok for us to eat or recipes to make?

    Thanks again for your help.

Michelle, as far as I’ve been able to find out, Cous Cous is (are?) made from fine particles of wheat bran and flour. Sounds like a perfect recipe for a meal for the Candida to be honest. Let me know if I’m wrong about these ‘things.’

Pilchards, being similar to sardines and herring, should be acceptable.

“One thing i think i will really miss is breakfast cereal, i see we are allowed oat bran but i was wondering if you know of or can recommend any cereal type foods that are allowed, or are they all annoyingly full of sugar!!”

I’m afraid most of them are annoyingly full of wheat, and of course sugar as well in most cases. But you can make a hot cereal from the oat bran. There’s also a product similar to cream of wheat called Pocono Cream of Buckwheat. Amazon carries both but I don’t know if these are available in your country as I have a feeling you’re not in the US.

By the way, the oat bran that’s allowed on the diet isn’t ordinary oat bran, this is the type that’s acceptable.

    http://www.amazon.com/Ecofriendly-Bobs-Mill-Bran-Cereal/dp/B005OM3T2K/ref=sr_1_1?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1332369588&sr=1-1

As far as the wraps go, can you make wraps out of buckwheat and coconut flour? Seems possible to me, but then again I’m not the one that’s going to be trying.

Let us know if you other questions.

    Hi Able,

What am I looking for in oat bran? The one I have contains oat bran and sprouts (literal translation from my first language), and nothing else is listed. I gave up on organic long time a go but food here is not as bad as in US because there is much less mass production which tends to make shortcuts.

Thanks in advance for sharing your “wiseness” 🙂

When I eat tuna I buy a brand that is a wild caught. It also is all natural, has no additives and no residue. I believe I read on Brenda Watson website or book that we should be eating wild taught tuna that is all natural. I found the brand I have at a grocery store. The brand I got is called Polar. I hope you can find it in the UK or something like it. Here is a website:http://www.mwpolar.com/allNatural1.htm.
    Lots of love to you,
    Lauren

    Thanks again for your help.

I shall look forward to getting in the kitchen and trying out these wraps! Fingers crossed they taste nice. This might sound a stupid question but does coconut flour have a really strong or distinct coconut flavour? as i have never liked the taste of it unfortunately!

Thankyou for the links to the cereals, i’ve had a look but on the oat bran i couldn’t see exactly what the ingredients were, so i’ve found a few that are available to me in the UK and wondered if you could tell me if they are suitable.

Most of them say they are 100% oat bran so is this what i am looking for?

Also thankyou Lauren for your advice on the tuna situation, i will be sure to study all of the tuna available in the supermarket when i next go!

Thanks again (this is all making me hungry!)
