Hi There I am new to this candida diet. Can I skip the detox and just do the diet as I cannot take time off work? Also I still need to take my thyroid medication. I also have a hiatus hernia, will this affect anything? ThanksSeptember 18, 2011 at 9:18 am #65399

Hello, and welcome to the forum.
Below is a much more simple form of cleansing or detoxing your body than the one on the website, and much easier to get through if you are a busy person and working.
Drinking one glass of warm water before having anything else in the morning is a perfect way to start the day by flushing your kidneys.
The detox lemon drink is about as simple as they come. Simply use a whole, fresh lemon; squeeze the juice into a glass of water and drink up. You should do this three times a day, morning, noon, and night, using a whole lemon each time. If you absolutely can’t stand the taste, you could add just a bit of Truvia (natural sweetener) for taste, but don’t overdo it with the sweetener on the detox diet.
An herb which can help with general detoxing is Milk Thistle. The components will bind with as well as coat the liver cells, and the phytochemicals will not only heal any previous liver damage but will also protect the liver from future damage.
If you want to use another good detox supplement, a product called Digestive Grape Bitters are no less than excellent at cleaning and flushing the liver, the bile ducts, and the gallbladder, plus they will increase the flow of digestive juices which helps resolve any disturbances in the digestive process characterized by flatulence, heartburn and bloating. In addition to all of this, bitters stimulate the repair of the intestinal wall lining or mucosa, so the bitters can be used for healing Leaky Gut Syndrome which stems from the Candida infestation.
The Grape Bitters should be in a liquid form and are normally sold at health food or vitamin stores. They can also be ordered online. The dosage suggested on the bottle is not necessary because the bitters work simply by nerve stimulation by coming into contact with the bitter receptors (vagus nerves) on the back of the tongue which then releases the needed enzymes. This process presents a cleansing effect on the liver so it is important to drink plenty of water throughout the day to prevent a strong detox reaction.
Since the idea is to stimulate the bitter receptors on the tongue, you only need to taste the bitterness of the herbs; therefore 1/2 of a dropper full on the tongue after meals will be enough to do the job, regardless of what the label may say. No matter what you read from here on out, you will not need to purchase additional enzymes as long as you use the Grape Bitters. Remember that you’ll need to take them before or immediately following a meal – followed by plenty of water.
Another type of detox supplement, especially for detoxing the liver as well as die-off symptoms, is called Molybdenum, a natural trace mineral already found in the human body. You can take 125 to 250 mcg three times a day when die-off symptoms are at their worse, but start with just one dose, and you can take it at any time of the day with or without food. In this case the pill form is perfectly fine and much more convenient. Molybdenum will detox your liver of Candida poisons and toxins better than any other supplement available.
If you follow the detox information above, and adhere strictly to the all green-vegetable diet plus avocados, leave out all red meat, eating organic eggs as the main protein source, and having chicken and fish only occasionally if necessary, you will be able to complete a one to two week detox program without literally starving yourself.
Unfortunately, a hiatus hernia is a fairly normal side effect of a long standing case of a Candida albicans infestation.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You can expect some possible die-off reactions to this detox protocol. So anyone following the Candida diet and detox protocol should read the post titled “Die-off, IBS, LGS & Candida Connection” dated Sept. 17.
