hey guys so turns out i dont have lupus, just chronic leaky gut and candida. i have been soooo so ill, and im doin everything im supposed to. im after some food ideas. im down to organic vegies, no nightshades – they cause a major reaction. only eating cauliflower, kale, celery, herbs like oregano and tumeric, onion, leek, brocoli, asparagus, lettuces, cabbages, brussel sprouts, and organic chicken once in a while for a special treat. im worried i eat so little im guna end up reacting to the little i have left. i feel i may be eating too much cabbage and am reacting to that.. god!! cant have buckwheat, or avocado.. any suggestions?? ps. i have chronic i flammation, red burning skin and a bad rash on almost whole body..

Hsve you tried teff flour or coconut flour? Almond meal? You need to find a flour that you can tolerate while on the diet if possible; it’ll greatly help your nutrition. I would even consider garbanzo flour if it is the only option.

In my opinion I think you have an especially difficult battle and should consult a good naturopath.

How bad of reactions do you get and how much can you tolerate foods you don’t agree with?

thanks for ur reply raster. iv seen 3 different naturopaths, and seen an allergy specialist last wednesday, did more bloods, and stoole sample, but dont get results for 1 month. when i eat something that doesnt agree with me its about a 4 day reaction, 1st i get full body itchy, next day i usually go super red especially on my neck chest and face, next day my arms and chest face abd neck will weep and itch insanely, and my eyes and face will puff up, the next day i still hav all these stmptoms but slowly dying down. on the 3rd day i usually have to take it off work.this is happening on a weekly basis pretty much… i made some coconut flour cookies with stevia and coconut oil and chia seeds as the binder because i cant have eggs and had a reaction to that, mind u they wer so frigen good i ate almost full batch in 1 go. is it common to react to coconut? maybe it was too much fir my digestion which has improved but is still not the best!

You likely reacted to the coconut oil which is antifungal. There is no way to know for certain which item caused it unless you test separately.

i’m in a similar situation, although my reactions are much less. i’m down to a handful of foods I can eat, but also am sticking to a GAPS/SCD diet – sans fruit. So no grains, just meat & veggies. using the 4-day rotation diet strategy, i’m rotating meats. I’m eating bone broth/fish stock every day at least once. and then i’m rotating a few veggies. but, eating lettuce, avocadoes, cucumbers, olive oil and apple cider vinegar every day, because I need to eat something to fill me up. my thought is, i’ll eventually become allergic to those since i’m eating it constantly, but because i’m rotating the others, i’ll at least have something remaining that I won’t be allergic to – mostly meat. it seems people get better quick on an all meat diet. i’m hoping I can heal myself before any more food starts bothering me. There is some good info on the celiac.com website forum, under ‘leaky gut and other issues.’ Those folks seem to be dealing with rotation diets, elemental diets (which you might want to look in to), new food reactions, etc.

I’ve seen mixed opinions on whether or not grains are beneficial. Because of the phytates, I’ve chosen to leave them out. GAPS/SCD says no grains, but that almonds are ok. But even soaked almonds have begun to bother me, and I was always ok with almonds. I think that I’ve killed off so much candida and opened new holes, that i’m reacting to new things. I have a feeling eventually i’ll have to do a rotation diet with everything. But i’m not ready for that yet, it’ll be too difficult with my limited food, and having to travel for work.

    this really sucks!

thank u for ur reply. oh god i know this sucks!! to be honest the food thing is SO hard and travelling is a nightmare, i always starve.. i def cant have grains. im too scared to hav chicken more than once a week. im trying for the 4 day rotation, but eat lettuce apple cider vinegar and olive oil every day. i was eating coconut mana, coconut oil and coconut toasted chips eery day so i stopped that incase i was reacting to it.. so hard. i hav alot of slippery elm which i think helps prevent a huge flare up. i have also orderd some l’glutamine which im guna chug bak!! i take 3000mg krill oil a day to. my skin has aged and has deep lines in it from being red raw and then healing sooo many times, im gettig so depressd!! very hard to stay positive! i will look at that website thank u very much for ur reply. its much apprciated!!

You probably have seen this material somewhere else, but just in case: http://thyroidbook.com/blog/autoimmune-gut-repair-diet/

I also have leaky gut and as a result autoimmune thyroid. Of course candida too. I have been trying to implement this diet a year now, its hard as fuck, and probably expensive, but when you try it its easy to notice that your gut feels better.

Yup, that’s the diet I’ve been following since I found Dr. K’s site about two months ago.

    Hello,
I have a new naturopath and she gave me this for leaky gut:
    http://www.amazon.com/Apex-Energetics-K-60-REPAIRVITE-173g/dp/B008XM3EE6

She said I will have to take it only one month.

Maybe You can take it too, check the ingredients.

    Good luck,
    Silke

thanks for the suggestion. these ingredients contradict GAPS/SCD dietary rules for healing leaky gut. people seem to have great success with GAPS/SCD, but i’m not seeing it yet.
