A surprising fact for most people is that the immune system isn’t controlled by one singular part of the body. The system is actually comprised of sections and areas of the body which include certain white blood cells, certain enzymes and cytokines, glands, stomach acid, and the flora or beneficial bacteria in the intestines.

One or two parts of our immune system can become suppressed and the other sections may not be affected at all, and the section of the immune system which is suppressed determines the type of health problems occur.

The specific section of the immune system which is responsible for controlling a Candida overgrowth is the intestinal flora or beneficial bacteria in the intestines. Many factors can cause this area to become out of balance and therefore a partially suppressed immune system is the result; sugar and any food which changes into sugar in our system are examples. An over-alkalized diet such as fruit is another because of the combination of alkalinity and high sugar content in the fruit. Green vegetables are alkalizing foods, but they do not affect the flora because they do not contain the combination of large amounts of sugar, plus they supply nourishment for the beneficial flora.

To keep the section of the immune system that controls the flora in balance, we should first supply the flora with the correct food source which will allow the bacterial to thrive. Some of those are homemade vegetable juice, kefir, either homemade yogurt or organic non-sweetened Greek yogurt, fresh garlic, greens (turnip, kale, etc.) onions, barley, asparagus, broccoli, artichoke, chicory root, FOS & Inulin, and organic oat bran or brown rice bran.

Next, it’s important to avoid foods and products which can harm the beneficial flora such as chemical additives and other toxins, artificial food coloring and the typical Western diet consisting of high sugar foods, fats and carbohydrates.

Without a well-working immune system, a Candida albicans infestation cannot be cured.

The biggest reason the flora in your gut or immune system is out of balance is because of the use of antibiotics sometime in your lifetime. This destroys natural healthy beneficial flora which may or may not ever return. Once this happens your gut/immune system can be out of balance for the rest of your life if untreated.

Raster, I wouldn’t be so sure that antibiotics are the ‘biggest’ cause simply because there are so many other causes to consider. For example, I hadn’t taken an antibiotic in over 15 years when I contracted Candida from the lack of flora caused by a high fruit diet which proved too alkalizing.

Diabetes is a major cause of Candida, and vaginal and penile Candida are practically a universal thing with men and women who have suffered from diabetes for a fairly long period of time.

Some of the worst causes are the typical American diet leading to nutritional deficiencies, birth control pills, flu shots, vaccines, extensive use of pain killers and cortisone, steroids, hormone replacement therapy, excessive sugar intake, excessive use of laxatives, and eating disorders.

A few other causes are Aspartame, MSG, chlorinated water, mold on our food sources like vegetables and nuts, mold in your home, mercury, contaminated seafood, fungal toxins, silver tooth fillings, and fluoride and/or chlorine in our water.

Children have Candida infestations as well; the most common cause with a child is being given commercial milk formulas or the lack of colostrum from breast milk.

The list of indirect causes of Candida is probably even longer, these are such things as nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, stimulants and depressants, pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizer, trauma and stress, additives in our food, in our soap, perfumes, shampoo and hair conditioner, skin lotion, laundry detergent, air fresheners, and fabric softeners. Then there are the environmental toxins to contend with which are absorbed into our skin 24 hours a day. We’re literally bombarded with toxins and additives every day of our life, and they all play a definite hand in a Candida infestation.

I agree with what you are saying and recently watched the documentaring “homo toxicus” (which was fairly boring). Manmade Toxins in the body can cause many health problems!
