Hello everyone! I’ve been dealing with what was recently diagnosed as candida overgrowth. I am 37 years old and recently started the birth control pill about 6 months ago to help with bad period issues I was having. I was also having recurrent bv and my doctor thought the pill may help because they came right before my period.
Now, I seem to be dealing with yeast. Every month, two days before my period, I start getting symptoms of a yeast infection. It lasts through my period and ends two days after my period. I typically don’t take anything for it, it goes away on its own.
I’ve been seeing a vulva specialist and he has me doing boric acid two days before my period and two days after. He does not believe the diet has any impact on treating me.
However, I had an appt at my primary care for something else and she did a blood and urine test and both came back positive for candida. She suggested I do 5 days of diflucan and a low carb diet. I already am pretty low carb so I didn’t have to change much. I am on day 2 of diflucan and the diet.
However, I don’t have any of the other symptoms I see for candida. I have fatigue, anxiety and mood swings. however, I also have a 3 and 5 year old so I atttibute them to my fatigue, etc. I am pretty healthy, work out 5 days a week and have a pretty good diet. I take good probiotics. I did however have a pretty bad sugar addiction.
Does what I have sound like candida? Or something else?
Thank you all for any help!!
