    Hi,

Am new here and would like to share where i am at and ask for advice in taking on the Candida diet if that is ok.

I am pretty sure i have Candida Overgrowth, I have spoken to my GP and he isn’t convinced about Candida full stop so have hit a brick wall. So I am thinking of taking on the Candida diet/way of life, I’ve had a good look online, watched videos on youtube .etc.

I have been unwell for over 10 years and am very fed up and miserable to the point where i feel like i can’t go on. I’m 30 years old and have spent my adult life sick, have missed out on so much and am pretty much alone in my pursuit of finding out what is wrong with me and if it can be cured.

I have chronic sinus problems, poor balance, dizziness/vertigo, constant whining noise and pressure in my head, constant headache, tinnitus, post nasal drip, itchy eyes, blurred vision, brain fog, very poor short term memory, spacey disconnected feeling from the world, objects coming into my field of vision set off trippy dizziness, some sounds set off trippy dizziness, weird mood swings, IBS, heartburn and acid reflux, cramps, bloating, issues with menstruation, acne, muscle ache/involuntary twitching, chronic fatigue – I am tired CONSTANTLY, i can’t think properly or function – And definitely more. I have not been able to work because of this and because of the severity of the symptoms i suffer from i am not allowed to use the cooker to make a meal, can’t do much housework and have to leave the house chaperoned otherwise i don’t go out at all. I have to have somebody looking after me, i am not able to socialise and live a very insular existence so as to not set off dizziness.

I have been to ENT several times and they have been unable to pin point what is wrong. I have had lots of tests done, scans, have undertaken vestibular retraining, medications, but nothing has worked. The last time i visited ENT I was told that as they were unable to find out what was wrong with me that it was likely that i had an ear infection years ago which caused damage somewhere and there was nothing they could do and i should go away and get on with my life.

However, I’m not satisfied the ENT was 100% right so have been looking into what else may be the problem with me. What has flagged up Candida overgrowth for me is the symptom list and also I have an intense craving for bread, fruit buns, chocolate, anything sweet -it’s driving me mad because i feel like i can’t help myself!!! I have no appetite for anything else unless it’s the above. I drink lots of water, i also drink decaffinated black tea with soy milk as cows milk make the running mucus a lot worse. I do drink hot water with honey and fresh lemon in as well – i try to drink this more than the tea.

So can anyone advise me if they feel in their opinion that the Candida diet/treatment plan is the right way to go?

If i undertake the treatment plan and i don’t have Candida overgrowth then can i potentially harm myself? or will it make me feel better anyway?

Are there any other people in the UK here? If there are – Was it easy for them to get hold of the supplements/food for the diet/treatment plan?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and answer if you can.

    Emma

    Hello Emma,

A lot of your symptoms sound like candida overgrowth. Check out this symptoms list:
    http://www.thecandidadiet.com/forum/yaf_postst6305_100-candida-symptoms-list.aspx

I think the diet alone will help a lot of your health problems. I think a lot of your symptoms are due to the toxins that candida produces.

The road to recovery on the other hand can be a long and/or expensive one if you do it incorrectly. You should put together a good plan that follows a good diet; listening to a professional may or may not save you money in the long run. Be sure to do plenty of research and don’t make any rash decisions. Plan before your proceed in other words because it could be expensive, time consuming, and you may feel worse before you feel better.

If and when you start the diet, you should experience worsening of your symptoms because more toxins will be expelled to the body. If this happens you need to be very careful in protecting your liver and kidneys from these toxins because these will have to be healed seperately if you don’t do this. In other words, protect these organs befor and during the time you start the diet.

We developed this general plan to get better and the cleanse is optional:

Hello, Emma. Welcome to the forum. I’ve answered your questions below.

Yes, unless you have a better idea.

If i undertake the treatment plan and i don’t have Candida overgrowth then can i potentially harm myself? or will it make me feel better anyway?

The diet can’t harm your health whether you have a Candida infestation or not, and it can also build your immune system as it is designed to do this.

Are there any other people in the UK here? If there are – Was it easy for them to get hold of the supplements/food for the diet/treatment plan?

There are lots of members from the UK here, I’m sure some of them will help you with your supplements.
