Here is some information about making kefir (from marbro’s post):

The time it takes you to make kefir from a starter is about the same ammount of time it would take you to make kefir from grains.

the benifits from grains are superior to any starter you will get. Moreover if cared for your grains you can maintain the grains you purchased once for the remainder of your life. If you get tired of taking care of them ever day or two then just dry and store them till your ready to do it all over.

I highly reccomend you buy kefir grains. You can find them on amazon cheap.

Or you try the kefir lady>still cheap.

Here is a couple videos, one on how to make milk kefir nice and easy, and another of someone making water kefir.

The longer you allow the kefir to ferment, the less lactose sugar will remain in the end product.

Amazon ships to most countries, but only certain items are shipped to other countries such as India, Indonesia, Israel, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, and others. Amazon sells the kefir grains, so I would just submit an order, I’m sure they’ll let you know whether or not they’ll process and ship it.

Yeah! Just bought some kefir grains and some cheese cloth. Okay, so I was watching some of the videos and apparently the taste of kefir isn’t that great. What can I do to cover that up?

I am not a fan of the taste of kefir milk either. For my glass o kefir I use 1 packet of steva and some cinnamon and it becomes a nice sweet drink. I crave it now. Sometimes I add some extra Kefir grains , some Greek yourt or both. Later on you can add a few berries to really make a great smoothy.

    A couple of things-

Your first and second batch may taste like sour milk and that is because the grains are still recovering from shipping. But it’s still ok to drink. Also kefir is much better cold.

Eventually you will be able to use kefir as a dairy substitute in baking and cooking.

Also if you cant stand the taste of milk kefir I suggest you give water kefir grains a try. It’s a completely different taste. I add a little lemon juice and it’s like champaign/lemonaid
