Is it possible to feel better when feeding the candida? I am still going through all the info and trying to figure out a diet that works, in the mean time I am eating slightly better but still not a good diet for candida. Just wondering if I am experiencing die off symptoms and then when feeding the candida am feeling better? Hopefully this makes sense and someone can provide an answer.May 24, 2012 at 8:43 am #82903
You are going to feed candida throughout your treatment; it can live on just about anything, even the foods on the allowed foods list (or forum food list). It just can’t live on these foods as good as what you were eating before the diet…
I personally feel bad when I feed the candida and feel good when I don’t. However, earlier in my treatment it was the opposite…so I don’t know what to say about it.
What is your current diet like? We can tell you if you are feeding candida based on your diet.

Well I am having a hard time figuring out where to go on my candida diet. I am trying to change some things to get on a healthier diet anyways. I have been eating the following as of late.
Vitamin Water Zero (various flavors)
Yogurt with granola
Roasted and Salted Sunflower Kernels
Peanut Butter Cliff Bars
Salad Mix (spinach and lettuce) with brocolli
Other things that I know are bad for candida in general that I wont bother listing out.
My main issue is waking up in the morning with a high level of anxiety and depression and getting better through the day. I am just so confused and frustrated.May 24, 2012 at 9:39 am #82909
Unfortunately most of the foods feed candida better than what you should be eating on the anti-candida diet. So, yes, these foods are feeding candida.
Vitamin water zero probably has bad ingredients
Granola feeds candida
Sunflower seeds contain molds and candida is a fungi
Peanut butter feeds candida and all cliff bars contain sugar
What I would consider doing is emailing able900 for the forum’s food list. This is a very strict foods list that we developed that won’t feed candida very much; in fact as little as possible. No sugar is on the list and we don’t even allow rice. What you are doing is setting yourself up for failure with your current diet and it is just not going to work! How do I know? I had a half-ass anti-candida diet my first time and I noticed no improvement. I’ve come a long ways since that time and I am here to share my experiences.
Time to start a new day and a healthy diet that will make you thrive! When you are fully healed, you can start to eat some of the foods you are mentioning, but I wouldn’t touch those with a 10 foot pole while fighting candida.

Thank you for your insight I do appreciate it. One question I have did you have yourself tested at all for candida? Do you recommend getting tested to rule anything else out?May 24, 2012 at 9:53 am #82913
Testing is expensive and can be inconclusive. There are some other things that are similar to candida such as H. pylori and parasites, but they are all treated in a similar manner. For long term health, I feel that it all starts in the gut, so if you can get the gut healed…you shouldn’t have too many other problems.
There are 2 labs where you can get your stool tests analyzed and I recommend checking it out if you can afford the tests, they likely won’t be covered by insurance though.
I feel the biggest indication that you have candida overgrowth is if you start our strict diet and antifungals…if you experience die-off symptoms then this likely means you have candida overgrowth. This doesn’t cost any money, lol.

Raster…talking about die off in the beginning…was the severe weakness and lack of energy part of a die off? it was the first week on the strict diet. felt alot better for two weeks after that and this last week, i feel HORRIBLE. like before i got on the diet..not sure whats going on…or maybe i need new antifungals and its just die off…I dont know.. a little confused at the moment.
i have held to the strict diet except an occasional raw cacao and some xylitol. i love chocolate..cant help it. everything else i am sticking right to it. and i got some kefir today but i dont have a clue how to use it. i also ordered the SF 722 and some other antifungals. should get them on Saturday. Do you think maybe the candida has just gotten use to the antifungals i been taking? and thats why i feel bad? its wreaking havoc on my body again?
trying to figure out whats what…May 25, 2012 at 8:41 am #83036
Usually if you feel bad it is die-off; I do get run down every now and then because of poor sleep…sometimes a few symptoms return for a short period of time when this happens. So you got more strict and started to feel bad eh? Well it sounds like the candida that was living on your older less strict diet cannot adapt very well to your new diet and thats what is going on. If you tried a new antifungal, this could be the cause as well. Our diet can cause a rather rough transition to the body.
