After much searching and dieting trying to feel better, and after suffering for many years, I can honestly say since I found I had Mercury Poisoning and started taking the medicine DMPS, I am feeling relatively great!!
To get a prescription for DMPS, I contacted a nurse practitioner named Julie Anderson out of Seattle. You can google her. Her name is mentioned repeatedly in the yahoo frequent dose chelation support group – a critical resource for anyone researching symptoms related to Candida or Mercury.
I still have a long way to go on chelation therapy, but I’m clearer than I’ve ever been, I can tolerate more foods with each month I take the medicine, and my energy is slowly returning to normal, as long as I avoid sugar, gluten, etc.
For example, I am exercising again…lifting, running, biking, swimming, basketball, golf, etc.
I am enjoying wine & vodka in moderation. I enjoy salads, chicken, eggs, bacon, and veggies from restaurants. I even enjoy some gluten free items from time to time. Coffee with soy or almond milk. Stevia for sweetner. I still eat organic and i still juice green veggies when I can, but I’m not married to it like I was on the forum diet.
I am sleeping well, getting up at 5:30 to go exercise, then a full day of work & errands, then a happy hour or date with a pretty lady, with energy to spare for a nightcap.
At first on DMPS, when I tried adding any food item beyond the strict forum diet, I would get fatigue, brain fog, and blurry vision. But as the weeks/months pass, my tolerance for new foods is increasing.
I’m slowly gaining weight/muscle, my stomach is settled as long as I stay within my daily thresholds for sugar, carbs, etc., regrowing hair, being more mentally clear, getting stronger bones and tolerance for bruising, better skin functioning (my autoimmune disease is fading), I feel more comfortable in my own skin and my clothes feel natural against my body. I can feel my immune system getting STRONGER!! Cuts heal faster, I recover faster, etc. My ability to articulate/access a wider vocabulary is getting stronger each month.
The biggest difference is I am calm, and happy. I continue to get these “christmas morning” feelings, that only increase in frequency and duration.
And the best news…when I take a break from the medication, my new found abilities STAY with me. Heck, I even feel better after a week off from the medication because my body rebounds from the drain that chelation therapy causes. It is a seesaw, but that’s the art of chelation therapy and self-determining what dosages you can handle.
I rarely get online to forums anymore. I take my DMPS and a few vitamin supplements. I take no probiotic, no antifungal, and no strict organic only diet – – and I’m feeling better than I have in years. In some ways, this mercury medicine has made me feel stronger bouts of happiness than I’ve ever experienced before, which makes me wonder if I’ve had mercury problems my whole life, and more importantly, that a cure for me could mean a new life of profound happiness, and that’s exciting while I’m on this journey.
DMPS is only the “starter” medicine in chelation therapy. The “main” medicine, ALA, is even available over the counter (I start it next month). I get both DMPS and ALA filled by prescription from Julie Anderson in Seattle, WA. She uses the Falls Pharmacy in Seattle, and they refill/ship my prescription to me across the country via a simple phone call. It’s expensive, even with insurance covering it, my copays are $50 each time.
I have follow up phone consults with Julie, but now that I have the ongoing prescription, I rarely follow up with her, as she also sells a lot of other supplements that are beyond my budget for this. I just follow the advice for vitamins and supplements in the frequent dose chelation support group on yahoo.
Hang in there everyone, I had UNBEARABLE mental and physical symptoms, and I’m doing much better, so can you if you keep HOPE alive and just find the right path for you and your family.
Much empathy to everyone out there – stay positive.
Here’s a recent story a woman that recovered fully from mercury and is normal again –

I just want to thank you for your post a way back compiling a bunch of success stories about mercury poisoning. That was my “lightbulb” moment when I realized all of my issues cropped up after copious amounts of fish consumption. Since then I’ve researched chelation a great deal and have decided to chelate using DMPS (then DMPS + ALA) via the Cutler protocol.
I will be starting chelation in a couple of weeks and just wanted to let you know that you have my gratitude. I hope more people become aware of what IMO is the leading cause behind yeast and digestive issues.August 3, 2013 at 1:53 pm #108582

Well done, Jeff.
You gonna see a tremendous improve one time you begin ALA. I have passed the year and half mark taking it.

Did you have to goto Seattle to get a prescription from Julie Anderson??
or is it over phone?
MY doctor sends me DMPS from MercOut…. which is not covered by Insurance…
So If Julie Anderson prescribes over phone…. I can shift doctor…August 6, 2013 at 2:25 am #108695

this is fantastic! i’m getting my amalgam removed this wednesday, and your post makes me feel good about it.
i have an appointment with a doctor who, i was told from someone on the FDC yahoo group, should be willing to prescribe DMPS.
My question is this– how long do I have to wait after my amalgam removal to begin chelation? Is 2 weeks OK?
Also, do you do saunas? I’ve read that can help, but I don’t have access to one…my gym doesn’t have it.
Final question- on the Yahoo Group, they list A LOT of supplements…which do you take?August 6, 2013 at 2:30 am #108696

oh, also, i have no proof that my problem is from mercury, it is just a theory. I did the DDI hair test, which came back normal for mineral transport. I recognize that this may not rule out a mercury problem, though.
Titan, how did you find out you had mercury poisoning? Hair test?
The reason I wonder about mercury is because all my problems started after 2 things: 1) a 1 week course of antibiotics and 2) a flu shot. I always assumed it was just the antibiotics that set me off, but wonder if it may have been a combo of the two (since flu shots have mercury). I’ve had flu shots before with no ill effects, but who knows
