Are the terms “yeast” and “fungus” to be used interchangeable or do they mean different? I have heard that yeast is an example of a fungus but I have also heard that fungus is a later advanced form of yeast after it gets well established within the human body. can anybody clear up this confusion for me?

Candida occurs in two forms, the pathogenic fungal form and non-pathogenic yeast form. It can morph between the two forms easily.
