Was advised by a friend who is a biology major from Stanford who says one shouldn’t take more than a 1.5 tsp of Cinnamon a day as it thins the blood.

Also, she brought me some fresh ground spice from RAINBOW FOODS in SF and it’s amazing how much more potent it is than your regular commercial cinnamon or the cinnamon pills. Makes sense, higher quality, fresher = better. For 3 cups it was only like $8.00 which isn’t expensive compared to the other alternatives….

    Blessings.

Most cinnamon is actually cassia, which has different properties than the medicinal value cinnamon is touted for. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinnamomum_cassia

Here’s an old post dvjorge put up on the topic:

    and

I would also consider this advice before consuming in large quantities:

“The active antifungal substance present in Cinnamon Oil is Eugenol ( the same in Clove Oil ) you have to be very careful if someone is planning on ingesting it because it is very toxic to the liver. I haven’t found any paper documenting how safe it is when taken orally. If you find one, please share.
I know about Eugenol since long time but never used it because its toxicity. Eugenol is a very powerful antifungal probably stronger than Carvacrol.

I love my cinnamon, I have it with my coconut bread, yogurt, and buckwheat pancakes. I feel it benefits me pretty well, but I ll try not to consume as much if true

Darn~! Eugenol ruins all the good natural antifungals…..it’s in oil of oregano as well.

However, I wasn’t talking about Cinnamon oil: just ground cinnamon.

Also, my friend said she got the Vietnamese Cinnamon which would be different from the type someone mentioned above.

As always, thanks for everyone’s input and blessings to you all….

What about cinnamon sticks? Ive been grinding these and using at least 1 ounce/wk. i think its cinnamum burrami.

Update: i see this is the cheaper and lower oil content of the 3 types
