    Is buckwheat flour gluten-free? There seems to be a lot of conlficting information out there.

    I have been using buckwheat flour to make coconut and teff bread (both forum recipes) – but I’m concerned I could be setting myself back by continuing to eat it if it is not gluten-free.

    Yes, buckwheat is certainly gluten free. The confusion with buckwheat might stem from the fact many mistaken think it is a grain.

    “Buckwheat contains no gluten and can consequently be eaten by people with coeliac disease or gluten allergies. Many bread-like preparations have been developed. However, buckwheat can be a potent and potentially fatal allergen by itself. In sensitive people, it provokes IgE-mediated anaphylaxis.”
