Mercury messes up the methylation process and enzymes. The root cause for methylation dysfunction is mercury.
If I take methylcobalamin, I do get anxiety and headache. Does this means that I should not be taking methyl b12 even though my b12 is only 196 but it should be more than 400?
How much are you taking and what brand? How well you will tolerate it depends on a few things. You definately need to supplement b12, its just about what form is best for you. Alot of people that need mb12 have reactions like that on startup, its not uncommon at all. Some people, believe it or not, have to start out at 1 mcg a day and work up. BUT, say you have one or 2 COMP snp’s (watch the video series linked to in my other thread), especially +/+, then you arent going to tolerate methyl groups very well at all, and have that same reaction. Thats why its important to have the 23andme data. Yes, mercury will definately tie up the methyl cycle. But a properly operating methyl cycle will prevent alot of the mercury buildup and/or play a big part in excreting/detoxing it from the body. Us mutants are WAY more prone to mercury toxicity.
The root cause for methyl cycle dysfunction is really a combination of things. Its a dynamic thing that is influenced by alot of things. Mainly your genetics and severe toxicity.
