I use organic canned coconut milk. It contains guar gum, which doesn’t seem to be a problem for the milk grains. You should probably avoid milks with other fillers.

And, yes, I reinvigorate the grains by brewing some cow’s milk kefir approximately every 4th brew (and I give this to my other half!).
