We actually need very little sugar/carbs in our diets to be healthy. We did not evolve to eat carbs with every meal. The idea isn’t to kill ALL the yeast in your gut. Everybody has a certain amount of yeast in their gut that provides a function just like beneficial bacteria. It is when the yeast growth gets out of control because of high carb intake that it becomes a problem. The fact is, besides helping candida, eating a diet that is higher in vegetables and lean protein is way better for you than the typical western diet. In my opinion, it is unfortunate that I had to be forced by an illness to eat properly. I feel like this is a wake-up call and I am never going back to eating the way I did before, regardless. I will still want treats from time to time, but I will never eats sweets every day like I used to.
