Hello, Diane.

Whether the yeast feeds the Candida or not can’t outweigh all of the benefits. Besides that, not all yeast are capable of feeding Candida, brewer’s yeast for one is an example. In addition, if kefir is properly fermented it won’t contain sugars. The most beneficial elements are the loads of good bacteria it contains that will produce beneficial acids which creates a negative environment for Candida.

It’s the same principle as eating loads of vegetables while on the Candida diet; the benefits of the vitamins, minerals, and fiber which feed the flora far outweigh the effect of the alkaline nature of vegetables. The fact is, if a Candida sufferer continues to take a high count of probiotics, the amount of acids the bacteria produce will negate any effect of the alkaline content of vegetables and other foods.

How was your weekend?
