I would recommend a meal like buckwheat or oatbran with a couple of eggs. You ll get your protein from both sources as well as fiber and some slow digesting carbs. Most importantly these are a part of the allowed foods. I made many mistakes with protein supplements and granted i have the advantage of being 21 so my body may not really need supplements but I think food is always a better choice. L-glutamine is also a good supplement for muscle and its recommended for leaky gut so I would recommened taking that.
L-glutamine is actually over rated for muscle, but it help re-build the gut, which improves digestion. Good absorption is key to growth & repair, which is something that is not going to be optimal for any of us right now.
I agree with you in general about protein supplements & wholeheartedly about the horrendous flavoured ones, they should come with a health warning on them.
I work as a trainer & when I’m really low on energy I will use them as a snack in between sessions (when I have all of 2-5mins max to get something to keep me going).
I pre blend them at home with green powders, coconut oil, flax & some green veg blended in as well. Sounds gross I know, but you get used to it & keeps me going. Post workout, I would cut the fat out for quicker digestion, but i’ve hardly trained since I started the treatment.
