Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies? Candidiasis is known to cause auto-immune problems; Truss and others write about it. My doc keeps tabs on my thyroid antibodies, and I do produce more of them than I should. In my case, my levels aren’t severe enough to be considered full-blown Hashimotos, though. I expect them to go back to normal when I’ve rid myself of my candida problem.
So what would you do with the antibodies test and what would that indicate? It sounds like that is used to diagnosis of a problem/disease and monitoring of it. Well we already know there is a problem and we will be monitoring it so I don’t really know what to say. It might be worth it if I don’t get better but I have a firm belief that you can be treated without testing.
Yeah, just something to think about if your problems linger. I’m not a thyroid expert; a year or so ago I watched the video series put together by Dr. Haskell (a naturopath) on hopeforhashimotos.com. I remember him explaining that people with high levels of thyroid antibodies had a lot of trouble getting their thyroids to heal/stabilize. He said that for those people, iodine supplementation could actually worsen things if not used in the proper protocol. Candidiasis was mentioned in one of the videos; I believe he said that one would have to get rid of that first. Towards the end he describes his own protocol for reducing the antibodies and getting the thyroid back to being self-sufficient.
C_S, Sounds like you’ve been up on the same studies I have been digging into for 11 years. Thyroid sucks would be my first topic right off the bat. The specialist I went to was Dr Robinson in Lubbock TX. He takes on patients (mostly women’s specialty) from as far away as Egypt. We balanced with Armour because it covers all the “Ts” I have tried Iordoral etc. to “boost” my throid. My DHEA was AWOL along with my Vitamin C and I was taking C twice daily at that time.
It’s been an “ok” journey with the Armour etc until the mold garbage and moving to Colorado after marrying my husband who’s from here. We are literally at a place to where for me to survive the long Winters, cold, depression and somehow get back to my workaholism I may have to go back to Texas to stay. I’ve spent too long fighting for my quality of life up here. I cannot get this thing balanced now and the cold hurts so deep into my bones I get up and don’t want to face the day.
The testing by lab draw is a good marker “for where we are” in the process of all this. With our thyriod, the temps each morning for 10 days is a must and the biggie: IF there are ANY STRESSORS going on in life at the time throw out all the lab results because stress throws them all off!!!!!! Wow, and my doctor laughed over this because he himself is on the thyroid madness journey.
